Keep them in designated areas so animals don't get so stressed and scared out of their minds!

Fireworks suck. They cause excess noise, scare kids, animals, and others, are dangerous, etc.

Random personal fireworks should be banned

I'm not against fireworks (kids enjoy them for the most part, and they're fun for celebrating) but I DO absolutely think there should be a timeframe when they're okay. Not any day whatsoever, and not any hour of the day. At least that gives people that don't enjoy them or cannot handle them (I know quite a few) and pet owners like myself a heads-up on when to prepare and for how long. It's just common courtesy and common sense.

Our dog ran off during the new year's fireworks and was missing for 3 hours. I just think there should be designated times for fireworks so that people can keep their dogs inside. Not going from 6:30pm to 12:00 am

I agree. There's a time and place. I have neighbors that put them off for days after the fact. In the summer it gets even worse. I'm sure they work just to buy fireworks.

would love to see time limit on all fireworks, for ex 9pm stop time!

Couldn't have said it better myself!! I've been very tolerable of this for the past number of years, however this year was the worse!! It was after 3 in the morning that someone a few streets down stopped putting them off!! My fiancé had to work at 7am and it was impossible for him to sleep with the noise from the fireworks and the fact that our dogs would bark everytime they went off!! There are small children living upstairs, so out of respect to them we didn't want to have our music up loud to drown out the sound!! My oldest dog has had seizures brought on by the fireworks in the past and my youngest curls into a ball and shakes uncontrollably and has issues with loud noises for days afterwards!! If people can't be respectable and have some common sense then they have to be regulated and if that doesn't work then they need to be banned!! This is also a safety issue!! You have people partying and drinking all night, then handling fireworks!! it's time to put some rules and regulations on this stuff!!

I believe there should be a certain time frame in which they can be set off. Around my area they were being set off early on new years eve up until the evening of new years day . Its just too much. Thank goodness my cat never goes out, she hid under the bed once she heard them, it frightened her so much. I'm all for people celebrating, but this excessive use of fireworks is not warranted. Hope the city takes this petition seriously, because there definitely has to be some sort of restrictions. Thank you :)

This is something I feel strongly about. It's is a noise issue. How can I or other people who are sitting home for a quiet New Years evening enjoy it while there are explosions going off all around our neighourhood. Most of all I am concerned for our canine friends who are so frightened they have to be sedated to get through the evening. A designated spot that everyone can attend is the only way to go. Please make changes.

I feel there should also be a banned placed on where the fireworks are set off...near houses, trees, etc...should not be allowed.

My dog is petrified of fireworks. On Canada Day , usually a beautiful summer evening, I have to hide inside with her, holding her while she shakes violently.

People who disagree with the petition, are clearly ones who do not have a pet, or a loved one who at 2am is woken from the sounds of fireworks which sometimes sounds like a gun firing off. The noises can be very traumatic to the young and old and to our pets.

Unacceptable fire hazard in a city that has seen more then its share of fire tragedies!!

A compromise would be restrictions on time for setting off fireworks. Over six hours of them is excessive and disruptive. Our dog is frightened and none of us can rest until 2am. Personally think backyard fireworks should be banned; had some get caught in our kitchen stove vent.

Excellent initiative. I hope this can extend into the Town of Paradise as well.

Couldn't have said it better!! If people can't be responsible then they have to be limited or banned!! I have a dog who has had seizures from fireworks, this year people in our neighbourhood were putting them off until going for 3 in the morning!!!! This is unacceptable!!
