The proposal is only to ban operation of multiple (corporate) STR's. "Mom 'n' pop" operators, like what you describe, would be allowed. So, as you "agree with rules for STR," you might actually like to sign the petition.

You guys are bunch of losers. Why are you so hateful and hostile to your neighbors. The super rich do not need to do STRs. Most people do STR to supplement their income, as they are not that rich. Just because there are a few bad apples does not make everyone bad. Most homeowners are very respectful and do not allow parties on their property. STRs bring tourists to the local community, and that is how this city gets money and provide better service from the local government. While I agree with rules for STR, a ban is not helpful. Ultimately, it will actually hurt you. Limit your neighbors property rights IS NOT YOUR RIGHTS. Stop this loser thinking.

Allow but only with strict regulation and oversite to keep community character and peace. No multiple business situations by investors.
No full time short term rentals by non residents. Full supervision by a city agency that responds quickly to violations while occurring.

Raising children next to party houses is awful! Period! What I would add to this petition though is reinforcement of quiet hour and conduct of occupants in general not only short term rentals. Some commercial and super expensive residential properties near me are notorious for late loud parties with amplified explicit lyrics. We tried calling police many times but all they get is a joke of a $200 fine.

We feel totally abandoned by the Malibu City Council. The planning commission recommended a complete ban and the Council has been sitting the their hands doing nothing. We will remember come election day if they don't get off their %sses and implement the suggested recommendations at a minimum. GET IT DONE!
