The dissolution of the HPCNA in March 2018 has left many qualified health practitioners unemployed (despite numerous job opportunities advertised) as they can not practice without licences despite having complied with registration procedures stated in section 21, subsection (3), paragraph (a) and have passed all professional perusals stated in section 21, subsection (3) paragraph (a) of the Allied Health Act of 2004. It is appalling that the Ministry of Health and Social Services has not reinstated the HPCNA thee months after nominations for the new council members by all professions represented on the HPCNA were duly submitted to the MoHSS office in May 2018. The HPCNA is a vital part of Namibia's health system, commissioned to protect the public by regulating the practice of all health professions and abandoning this mandate leaves Namibia's health system under staffed and open to cases of malpractice and corruption.

Updates

August 30, 2018

I have finalized the formal request for clarification to the Ministry of Health and Social Services regarding the ongoing administrative delays. We are now preparing a secondary package of documentation to provide legal counsel. Further updates will follow once we obtain a response to the current inquiry.

August 30, 2018

The growth of this movement has caught the attention of legal counsel who are now reviewing our case file. We will use this momentum to finalize the formal letter of demand that will be delivered to the Ministry of Health and Social Services office.

How can we be jobless with this many vacancies open?! Just fix the council already so we can actually start working. People are getting sick and we are sitting at home while we have the papers to help them.

Registration and payment of licences of health professionals need to be justified also, people can't keep paying and not know why they pay. I am not against it but believe, interview these professionals and ask them why they pay and see how many know the answer. Myself also don't know why I pay, but I am not saying it's wrong to pay. We have other professionals like teachers, they do not pay and I also dont not know. Contrary, the professionals need to be update on something or be given something, even yearly reports relating to their fields, may be then they will feel that they ain't robbed when they do that annually payment. I honestly think AHPCNA should consider that.
