The dissolution of the HPCNA in March 2018 has left many qualified health practitioners unemployed (despite numerous job opportunities advertised) as they can not practice without licences despite having complied with registration procedures stated in section 21, subsection (3), paragraph (a) and have passed all professional perusals stated in section 21, subsection (3) paragraph (a) of the Allied Health Act of 2004. It is appalling that the Ministry of Health and Social Services has not reinstated the HPCNA thee months after nominations for the new council members by all professions represented on the HPCNA were duly submitted to the MoHSS office in May 2018. The HPCNA is a vital part of Namibia's health system, commissioned to protect the public by regulating the practice of all health professions and abandoning this mandate leaves Namibia's health system under staffed and open to cases of malpractice and corruption.
