Peterborough needs a successful sports team like The Panthers.
Without Peterborough Speedway I'd have never visited your city.

Why should sport suffer by greedy developers just wanting to build houses on sporting facilities and lodging planning applications to councils thinking they can persuade councils to accept their application when there are rules in place to preserve sporting stadiums. Speedway has taken place in Peterborough for 53 years uninterrupted. It's needed in Peterborough so reject the planning application please.

I believe this development contravenes Policy LP36 of the Peterborough Local Plan.
The showground is certainly a viable facility, over the years it has been used for all kinds of large events/community gatherings along with its weekly use by a thriving speedway club.
The grandstand and buildings are still in good condition and in the right hands there are lots of opportunities to develop and enhance the existing infrastructure of the showground. This in turn would attract more events/activities to the showground and generate further income.
The development plans include a golf driving range, gym and small all weather football pitch. These facilities (if they ever get built i.e developer doesn't run into some unforeseen financial difficulties) are in no way close in nature or size to what is already in existence.

Peterborough Panthers needs to stay at Showground. It has been a well supported side for locals as well as the wider Speedway family and has hosted major events

Planning approval should either not be granted at all, or the AEPG should be forced to pay for relocation of what was an already existing/long established sport. Once these things are gone, they are gone for good. I personally don't believe that there is sufficient infrastructure to cope with the planned construction of so many houses, particularly the strain it will put on our already busy hospital.

We need to preserve as many open spaces and sports stadia as possible. The about of building works over the last 20 years is the main reason our waterways cannot cope with the extra surface water generated and more flooding will continue to occur

So many people enjoyed speedway at Alwalton, it should have been allowed to continue.
Do not need more houses.
