Peterborough needs a speedway team, and the showground is the home of Peterborough speedway and will always will be, Peterborough doesn't need more development on the greenbelt land. The city infrustructure can't cope as it is. The showground should be used for sporting facilities and the great shows that they have always held here.

If the decision to allow this development goes ahead that will be the death knell for any outdoor events in the city with ferry meadows to become the only green space left in our wonderful city, it has become an over populated unregulated cess pit.

The Panthers have provided family entertainment from the Showground site since 1970, under the rules they should be allowed to stay or provided with an alternative site Save our speedway team !

Speedway has been at the heart of my family for generations. It’s a sport we all love and adore and put Peterborough on the map. People of all ages enjoyed going to speedway and supporting their teams. It was a sense of community, as you would meet people and made life time friends and connections. Children loved going, I certainly did. It gave young people something to do, and focus. I saw many go in to become track staff, mechanics for speedway riders, and even join the junior speedway team with prospects of becoming a rider.
It’s dear to my heart as my grandad (now passed) come to every meeting he volunteered as track staff but was also a trained electrician, and so also did the lighting and electrics. Aswell as working in a pit.
My uncle (now passed) had speedway bikes and enjoys going down to the track to train to become a rider.
Panthers riders have done a lot for us over the years. They have always supported Leighton and orton longueville school by donating gloves, helmets all sorts of their personal riding gear and belongings to us for charity events at school. Of which they did without anything official. We would simply ask and they would donate. Which is a rare thing to happen. We would then update the riders on how that helped.
We use to go to Cardiff for the speedway Grand Prix yearly to support our riders and all riders representing the UK. Very exciting and proud moments. There’s meetings all lead up to those events
These meetings brought the likes of Sky sports and Euro sports to Peterborough to broadcast meetings live. Which was always an exciting, to be able to watch it back and see yourself in the fences holding hand out for the riders to tap as they drove by.
It was a great source of income for Peterborough.
It’s becoming a dying sport in the UK since council keep getting rid of speedway tracks and not relocating them to keep the sport alive. And to keep income that is being generated coming in. Soon there won’t be any UK

With a history of over 50 years of speedway in Peterborough and a credit to all the different custodians over the years, a fleeting money grabbing scheme that only financially benefits a small amount of ruthless people the bigger picture of lifestyle and Culture must be observed.

I first visited the Speedway at the Showground at the age of 13. It became. Second family environment. I still have contact with many of the people who became friends. This included riders and in particular Australian Mick Poole who I am still in contact with this day .
I worked for three different promotors over a period of nearly 15 years . Family sport which has made many of my friends become family .
