A Merle Schnauzer should have their own AKC registration code if both parents are AKC registered. The parents Lineage should not be discredited if they are already AKC, and that is exactly what is happening if a Merle puppy is born into the litter.

This would also let breeders know which dogs may have hidden merle so that we could be safe with breeding those hidden merles. As of now, we only have the breeders honesty to go on.

As long as you show a code for Merle schnauzers so can see if there is any merle in them it is fine with me. All schnauzers initially had other breeds in them to get minis,
