Regis Commencement 2021- In-Person!

Don't shaft these students give them the ceremony they deserve.

We have been living in this new normal for almost a year. Figure it out people. Unacceptable!!

Please reconsider as vaccines will be available soon.

Please reinstate the in person graduation ceremony for this year’s class. They have worked through very difficult circumstances to achieve their goals! They deserve to be recognized for their determination and excellence .

Please reconsider your decision to cancel graduation. These kids have worked hard and they should be able to have a formal graduation program.

I think it’s about time we start going back to our normal activities, specially an important one like this.

I agree with everyone that the administration is reacting too quickly in regards to cancelling graduation in February. My daughter is a nursing student and has worked extremely hard in the last four years but especially since March 2020. She started a job at a hospital the week they started seeing COVID patients. She didn’t give up! She is fully vaccinated and excited to begin her nursing career. We believe she deserves a graduation ceremony!!!! Please reconsider. If not I would like to know if the tuition included the 300.00 graduation fee. If so , I expect a refund.

If you had the right person in office, you could make this happen.

Should of just gave us the virtual commencement for the class of 2020 last year instead of making us wait this long just to find out it’s going to virtual over a year later.

Dear President Hays and Members of the Board of Trustees, I hope you will do the right thing and find a safe way to let these accomplished students close the books on an incredible four years of hard work and dedication, awhile managing the fears and stress from this pandemic. I know two young women who are earning their Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with the Class of 2021. They have been working on the front line of the Corona Virus, being the first in line to take the vaccines when others stepped aside. Ask these students how to plan a safe graduation. All students deserve their chance to shine and be recognized in a safe, managable format. Be the first to show the world how Regis embraces its students and keeps them safe while recognizinng them. It doesn't have to look like a traditional graduation Ask everyone to think outside the box for a solution. It can be done. Don't give up on their dreams of walking across the stage and accepting their ticket to life's next chapter. Respectfully, Nancy Tracy

I agree that it’s too soon to give up on commencement celebrations altogether. Commenters have made many good suggestions on how to manage risks. Understandable that Regis doesn’t want to pay a lot of money to reserve a big event space that might not be used - but multiple events with smaller groups would be safer anyway. Perhaps the college can make a set of different plans and modify or postpone as the day draws closer.
