Wisconsin's public schools are quality schools. Privatization of our schools will not improve their ability to provide services to our children.

How did these things get control? This has to be from the ALEC playbook. They are not intelligent enough to bring forth these bills on their own. Why don't they examine the education system that Finland or Scandinavia have?

Hold a hearing, that would be the right thing to do.

Stop the take over by the profiteers. End taxpayer dollars for private education.

The 'revised' Bill (AB1) should also include hearings. Follow the laws that are within our state and country!

This is too important to proceed without public comment.

Possibly NO public hearing on the revised bill? I thought we had a government that represented the people. You talk all the time about beating back "special interests" when it appears that you are being dictated by all kinds of special interests who want to privatize public education. How do you justify not having a public hearing? Of course, that's probably only a formality since you've made it clear that you're only concerned with what your half of the state thinks. I am quickly losing faith in our system since republicans took control. And I have regularly voted republican until 2012.

the public must be given opportunity to comment on a bill that would bring radical change to the way we educate our children. not only does this bill have the potential to change our schools, but to dramatically change our rural community and urban neighborhoods.

This kind of bill that impacts the very essence of our democratic system requires active voter input which needs to include well-announced, regional hearings on the amended AB1.

WI has developed a public education system that is one of the top in the country. Making changes of this magnitude requires a full and open discussion on the actual bill and any amendments. You owe that to the citizens of WI but especially to the children.

It is a It is a dishonest manipulation of our citizens to offer a hearing on an undisclosed bill !

What are you afraid of, the truth? Hold the hearings and then listen to the testimony! Then do what the people want. We do vote, you know.

A democratic government requires open discussion of major issues and legislation. Refusal to hold a second hearing on a greatly-revised AB 1 is a slap in the face of democracy. Rep Thiesfeldt, government is not intended to be conducted in secret.
