- Capital punishment serves as an ultimate warning against would be criminals who are on the fence about committing pre-meditated murder. Often do criminals think twice and end up sparing the lives of their victims.
- The death penalty serves as a means of closure for the family and friends of victims. Many single murder victims carry on knowing that the murderer of their loved one is still alive in prison. Killing them would allow for a sense of relief to those affected.
- Capital punishment serves as the best answer to murder and other serious crimes as it can prevent from 3 to 18 murders. The death penalty also brings swift justice to inmates deserving of death.
- According to the chart from www.deathpenaltyinfo.org the number of months that an inmate will sit on death row has dramatically increased over recent decades. This means that the number of inmates on death row will increase each year and the average wait time will increase. For every inmate on death row, there is a lot of tax payer money being used to hold them and the longer they are there the more money is spent. Reforming the death penalty would reduce the strain on tax payers as well as providing a more effective system of capital punishment.
