Criminals don't obey gun laws. Restricting law-abiding citizens' Constitutional rights will not make anyone safer. Refusing to enforce the law, de-criminalizing 'low-level' crime and not prosecuting those crimes may give you better stats, but you're putting citizens in danger by your willfully ignorant policies.

We need better strategies for repeat offenders. We have allowed this beautiful city to be overrun with people who only wish to do harm. Why is it law-abiding, tax paying citizens are forced to put up with this growing crime? The city prosecutor (Pete Holmes) needs to do his job and enforce our laws. The City Council has a responsibility to the citizens of SEATTLE (it’s the first thing they swear to protect in their charter when they take office!). I’m a parent and teacher and part of my job (everyday) is enforcing rules and saying ‘no’. It’s time for the city of Seattle to say ‘no’. Enough is enough.

A crime is defined by the punishment. If there is no punishment—there is no crime. We need enforcement of our laws and codes, with consequences to those who choose not to comply. We should have on the “books” only those we are willing to enforce consistently and eliminate the rest.

Public safety is a cornerstone of a livable city for all of our citizens and visitors. The mayor's office, the city council, the police, and the prosecutor's office need to get on the same page to effectively address the public safety problems downtown and in our neighborhoods - NOW!

I will not go downtown Seattle anymore, but to push the criminals to outside the city limits is wrong too. Support the law and police and put the criminals that need help into institutions, not somewhere else on the streets

This is way overdue.
What has happened and is happening in Seattle is egregious. Actions speak louder than words - your actions have proven ineffective. Quit doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome. A crime is a crime is a crime - punishable by law.

We have lived around Seattle for most of my 66 years and have lived downtown for the past 5 years. I am stunned that such a successful city can't seem to keep its known criminals off the street. It is no wonder the police dept has trouble retaining officers. How demoralizing it must be to constantly keep arresting the same few people only to see them immediately back out on the street.
