We are not safe and Legislator doesn’t seem to care. Seattle used to be a great place to visit and I was proud to call it home, now it’s dangerous and looks worse then the Waste Management Station. It’s disgusting. I told my family who wanted to visit to pick someplace else and we will go there rather then them seeing the repulsive you dirty and unsafe place that the city has become.

The elected officals are destroying Seattle. Since Durkan took office the city has grossly deteriorated and feels much less safe. Many parks have become unusable due to drug abusers being allowed to take over them. I am a native Seattleite and a life long liberal, but liberalism, which seems to now mean giving criminals a pat on the head, is destroying the city, and much of the state. Never thought I would consider this, but I'm afraid the only way the state won't conitnue to sink into a garbage strewn haven for criminals is if we start voting in Republicans who care more about public safety and the general citizenry than they do about enabling crime.

I read the petition we are presenting thoroughly and I don't agree we need MORE police officers but substantially better trained officers who know how to respond effectively to challenging calls and if they are not capable to call is someone who is trained to handle the situation at hand. Public safety is often complicated and I agree our justice system is seriously flawed. King County needs a Drug Court capable of alternate sentencing for non violent drug offenses. Punishment doesn't cure addiction. Homelessness is a horrible situation contributing deeply to crime. Appropriate housing is high priority in reducing crime in Seattle and costs substantially less than incarceration for prosecuted crime in our streets. Mental health programs with HOUSING reduces street violence in our City. There is so much more involved in promoting Public Safety in Seattle but that is going far enough for the moment.

This sort of neglect is happening in many places and nothing will be done unless the people vote in officials who care about the city.

I agree. It's important that everyone is held accountable for his/her actions, and that we don't confuse compassion with passivity.

Seattle has become a dangerous s**thole for the most part. Somebody's making money off the situation, otherwise the City wouldn't allow this to continue this way. This is happening because there is corruption in City Hall and in all the City departments.

We are headed towards looking like Portland, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Let's not go there.

PLEASE FIRE Seattle Prosecuting Attorney Pete Holmes. He is a disgrace. Put a camera on Pete "Always-Potted" Holmes for 2 days. You'll see why. Or what is really needed: Put a camera on Seattle's Mayor Jenny Durkan and King County's Dow Constantine. Start prosecuting criminal actions and support our police.

This is way overdue. I can guess that if you (anyone on the city council or justice system) were to be involved in an unfortunate event, that this would them become a priority. Please get the lead out before you or someone you care about becomes a victim.
