Now know as The Cyclists & Runners Trust. In an attempt to gain favour with urban populations, it's deprioritised it's main function.

I agree with everything in this petition I am very unimpressed with the trusts performance on every level the historic canal system is going to rack and ruin with no forward thinking preventative maintenance. Carrying on at this rate navigation will be impossible in a very short time. I am not sure what their agenda is but it certainly isn’t in the best interest of the canal network.

We are on the Lancaster. Only half it’s 40 miles are safely usable due to overgrowth, vegetation encroachment and silting. Damaged prop on our new boat pulling away from the moorings at the refuelling south of Garstang. With lifts and repair cost over £1000 to fix. Next time out my partner stepped on what they thought was the bank when mooring. It wasn’t. It was overgrowth and they ended up in the canal between the boat and the rail. But the towpaths are well used (for free) by joggers, dog walkers, bikers, horse riders and a fellow called Tom Cobley with all his mates!

More interested in cyclists and runners. Through corona virus the towpaths less than2m should have been closed. Complete disrespect for boaters!

Just got my first canal and river license and am appalled at the lack of money spent on the canals. All the money is spent on the towpath but walkers and cyclists pay nothing

Since CRT took over each year the state of the waterways has become steadily worse. Overgrown trees and weeds. No dredging. No maintenance to locks and water taps ( Pollington water tap leaking for four months). Torksey cut a full tree nearly blocking the entrance trapped in the jetty. It’s a disgrace especially now they are charging extra for wide beam. Where is all the money going.

Lancaster canal is a disgrace, in 20yrs on this canal I have never seen it so badly maintained. It is full of weed and silted up everywhere, what are we paying for I would like to know.

I can't remember the last time the canal I moor on was dredged. It's so full of weed, silt and rubbish I can no longer navigate it.

We are fairly new to the waterways and can clearly see the lack of investment. Craft grounded or scraping the bottom , causing damage to our boats which costs us more money. You only need to walk along the canal path (watch out for the cyclist ringing a bell telling you to get out of the way) to see the amount of debris which all needs clearing out. Let's see some action from you as we all continue to pay our licence fees only to see nothing done. Advising us of what you are doing and sharing your action plan may help us understand what your are doing.
