I have lived on my boat for four years. And have not traveled far, due to the fact of the lack of maintainence of the waterways. I have only seen CRT cutting trees or strimming the bank for walkers and idiots who do not pay for that privilege.

They are more interested in wellness rather than canal navigation which should be their prime objective.

I thought BW were bad enough but since being taken over by CRT it would appear thar our waterways are for everyone except boaters, the only ones who pay for the privilege.

CRT do not give boaters value for money. The shocking cost to design a new logo recently was a shameful waste of boaters license fee.

Give the waterways back to the boaters who pay for them, dredge the waterways and makntain access to boats. this is part of our heritage being given over to those who neither pay for access or appreciate their history

It's the Conservative govt that need to be brought to heel. By constructing a de-fanged organisation (CRT) that spends more of its time in public consultations over the minutest proposal for change, that furthermore diverts its energies into scrambling to raise meagre funds to do highly-priced restoration work, the Tories continue to deflect criticism of themselves by setting up toothless Trusts that exist only oversee gradual decline.
The infrastructure is a disgrace, but then again under Tory rule the national infrastructure (roads, Northern rail, etc) is also a band-aid away from bleeding to death.
Renationalise the waterways. Put direct investment in, and restore real executive power that can override the petty objections of local landowners along the southern waterways (K&A esp.) to even adding something as simple as a water standpipe (much-needed).

Just do what you are being paid to do and look after the waterways.

People sweat blood and tears to get the canals back to being usable last century. We all pay a licence fee so CRT should look after them properly

The CRTs published accounts say they spend more on recruiting and training volunteers than the value of work delivered by those volunteers. Why not spend the money on fulfilling their duty to maintain the waterways!
