Refer Canal & River Trust to govt for failures to maintain uk inland waterways

The state of the canal network is at the worst point for many years. CRT need to uphold their duty as a charity and not neglect the infrastructure

The way the waterways are being maintained is disgusting. We pay alot of money for our licence but can't go anywhere. A breach occurred local to our mooring mid December and won't be done until end of August. Best of summer over then. Its a disgrace all the breakdowns being reported.

I totally agree, where I am moored (last 14 months) I cannot now move because of the broken swing bridge in selby, the damaged bridge at Haddlesy lock the broken lock at beal, the breech at new junction.... etc etc.....

It would appear that we pay a lot in licence fees and large amounts of the network is not available to broad beam boats

Canal is in a terrible state of disrepair.

We too feel exactly the same as others and the C&RT do not look after boaters as their prime concern and they should do,as a duty of care, as they are accountable to us as licence payers.

3 stoppages in 20 miles of my mooring. CRT are not maintaining navigation.

Their policy of "wait until it breaks" rather than doing preventative maintenance shows that they are unfit to be running the canals

Government needs to re-think the governance arrangements for the canals and rivers managed by CRT. The "charitisation" experiment has abjectly failed because the old lines of accountabiity to the public and Parliament have been swept away and a veil of secrecy is now increasingly drawn over CRT's activities and failings which they say are private issues.

The canals deserve to be kept in good and navigable condition. They are a huge asset to this country and should not be used as a cash cow.

Have got rid of many skilled staff, are selling off all that they can and failing to maintain navigations let alone improving any whilst making sure their own pockets stay well filled. In my opinion Parry & co are unfit for purpose.

CRT = People who live in houses, work in offices and know little or nothing about boats, the community of boat-dwellers, boating, canals and the canal infrastructure and care about them even less. They appear to be completely unaccountable and have an agenda which is all their own and has nothing to do with their stated articles.

Forced to pay to use But not maintaining the waterways There should be more proactive maintenance and not just reactive fixing

My son lives on his canal boat but due to no flood defences In place he will have to travel a hour longer to get to work from the place he’s been forced to move his boat to.

Our canals need the money we pay in license fees spending on canal maintenance ie upkeep and dredging and preventative maintenance how it used to be.

is it worth signing 'cos they are not interested in boats, only fishing, walking, towpath cycling and selling the assets they inherited and of course expensive 'jobs for the boys'

C & RT, Have never been fit for purpose and should be replaced.
