Refer Canal & River Trust to govt for failures to maintain uk inland waterways

I have moved my boat OFF of CRT waters now.

CRT only have a limited amount of money, however we need to tell parliament to give them more. Licence fees will never be enough to support the necessary maintenance for a 200 year old heritage. Government have a responsibility to help maintain our history and leisure facilities.

Crt now has a policy of reactive maintenance with much of the infrastructure now falling into disrepair. Even the crt workers are frustrated at not being allowed to make even simple repairs . Locks are not being maintained with many having only minimal paddles working and most leak so Badley it is dangerous for boats to pass through.

To many broken trees in the water. Sunken crafts not removed in including CRT sunken barge between Heck and Whitley Lock

The most dangerous charity in the UK requires to be forced to revise its priorities. Left to its own devices there will not be any inland waterways.

Dreging sawley cut .boats resting on the bottom last time dreged over 50years ago .

There is something wrong with every lock near me, the Summit of the Rochdale Canal. No repairs till the lock is unpassable. No preventive or regular maintenance, Still, the new signs and company cars should make us feel better by water eh?

I’n my experience the canals and locks are only repaired not maintained on a regular basis, the manual ones are difficult to operate and most of the times not all paddles are working. The canal are shallow causing damage to boats and most are over grown. In my opinion some are a accident waiting to happen, it’s only because boaters recognise this and are careful that they are minimal.

The canal system is run down in most areas.....WHY?

We need a change from current management who think more of non paying canal users than its fee paying customers Covid has highlighted this more than ever Maintenence of the uk historic canal network is reduced to a basic level ,

I started boating at the age of 8 yrs old on the sea I am now 72, I moved to the inland waterways 20 years ago but in the last 10 under canals and rivers trust I have seen our waterways fall into disrepair year on year. At this rate our waterways will be unusable this will effect not only boaters, but walkers and fishing along with more flooding of land and houses

Not fair to be taking money from some users if the canal and not others

I feel our canals are neglected and our monies have not been invested back into them.

Its disgraceful and high time people are made aware. Fees are paid and facilities,locks and rivers have been untouched, unloved for years. High time money was spent on locks, shower, toilet facilities and update moorings with electric, water hook ups.

They have no idea about needs of the waterways and maintenance. Disguised as a charity to make money with nothing in return

Many boaters very worried about damaging their boats on the Trent due to lack of dredging and maintenance.

Their level of incompetence is criminal
