Refer Canal & River Trust to govt for failures to maintain uk inland waterways

Been using the inland waterways for 18 years, six years as a continuous leisure cruiser, and I have seen many signs that maintenance has become reactive rather than proactive. The conditions are poorer than before. Its not about money, its about mismanagement of the funds tha t are available. When Mr Parry first arrived on the scene things were looking up and his presence gave promise. Sadly this seems to have been the ‘honeymoon’ period.

Haven't been on the waters very long , a Couple of years, but it's obvious to me that there is no sense of urgency or commitment to get things put right when there is a problem and no commitment

OK we were flooded in November, but its July why have barriers to the weir in Rothertham not been replaced? moorings that boats cant reach because its to shallow, Landing pontoons just been repalaced by temporary ones the list is long and unfair on boat users

Dismal underperformance,leading to infrastructure failures at an unprecedented rate!this “trust” is neither trustworthy or fit for purpose, urgent action is required to protect our vital industrial heritage from the damage being inflicted upon it by CRT

We need our waterways to be maintained properly.

As a boater paying for a licence and a mooring and not being able to actually go anywhere due to lack of water, silted up channels, last minute works and broken infrastructure I am loss as to where my money is going. CRT seem to be selling off what assets left right and centre and I question the legality of this.

On one of Carts surveys I suggested that they were reducing maintenance and access to see how fatr they could go before effective opposition to their policys. They obviously took this as a suggestion.

I have noticed a deterioration , over the 8 years I have been liveaboard.

Recently returned to the canals. I am utterly shocked by how much they have deteriorated over the past 6 years. The obvious neglect by CANAL and River Trust is criminal. Please please bring them to account for their actions, or lack of them!

the Selby canal is so bad now you can hardly get along it, it is shallow and narrow in places, it is full of duck weed and it stinks when it starts to rot. how the people living next to put up with it beats me. When I first went along the canal before cart took control I could see to the bottom it was deep and wide, it was a very nice canal now I just want to get past it

Our waterways are in trust to us they provide important habitat and thoroughfares

I’ve seen parts of the canals so congested dogs have walked onto it thinking it was grass and have had to be rescued.

It’s patently obvious that maintenance has fallen way behind since CRT have been overseeing it. We used to moan about BW but I’d gladly take them back. At least they knew that canals were for boaters.

The highly paid executives of the charity Canal & River Trust have been given several years now to get to grips with running our waterways. They have in that time only proved themselves to be incompetent. Steps need to be taken just as in any other failing organisation.

The bucks stops with Mr Parry who has been a dismal failure and should go asap

I have damaged 2 props on my narrowboat in 24 months due to none dredging of canals and under water obstructions.

During the so called lock down CRT didn’t do anything to help us we had over 500 people per day passing us in close proximity. Yet when there was foot and mouth disease the towpaths were closed but with a worldwide pandemic they remained open. disguised with their response.
