Refer Canal & River Trust to govt for failures to maintain uk inland waterways

The canals have been deteriorating at an astonishing rate for the last 25-30 years. It needs a Management and staff that have a true interest and knowledge and not one who gives away the ‘Trusts’ Funds to other charities and favours cyclists and walkers above the thing the canals for

I've been trapped on the Macclesfield Canal far too often in the last few years. It has taken a catastrophic reservoir dam failure and a potential aqueduct failure before they pay any attention to extensive and obvious leaks..

Every day there’s another emergency stoppage for repairs - most because routine upkeep is slipping. The waterways are in rapid decline and both private owners and hire companies are suffering badly as a result.

Ongoing deterioration of network is a disgrace-currently dragging along the Coventry canal. Towpath overgrown, overhanging trees,,too shallow!

I can't condone this enough. At present, I am trapped on the Tame Valley canal. Unable to move due to weed. Seriously, it un navigable. They seem to forget that the people they are trying to attract to the canals, are only there to see the boats. Mr Parry, should go. End of.

Not enough prevention work being done. ie the Middlewich breach crt had been warned by someone that it was going to happen and they chose to ignore it.

Peak season and predictably lots of lock issues - many due to lack of maintenance. CRT priorities are so distorted.

I wish I had shares in the sign company the CRT uses. There are so many nowadays and they are almost always for non-boater towpath users. Duckweed, algae and rubbish makes cruising risky now in so many areas and trustees do not seem to be taking seriously their duty of care towards the beneficiaries, in particular those who pay licence fees. This "charity" needs to be investigated by a parliamentary or other appropriate independent body

about time someone investigated the management of the canal and river trust

Waste money on new sinage ect ehen it could be better spent sold off bwml which was a good income top people paying themselves tomuch

The rivers and waterways play a major part in the movement of goods inland and need to be maintained to relieve heavy haulage from our roads and improve the air quality in our city's around the country .maintainance" is essential.

CRT definitely needs an independent government review of it's performance and priorities generally, as despite it's independent charity status it is still receiving millions of pounds annually of taxpayers money. Of particular concern is the removal of ground staff and over-reliance of volunteers and the general lack of infrastructure maintainance.

Can’t trust the river trust sadly! There vilification of continuous cruisers and Failure to dredge canals and provide free right of navigation And never operate the Thames locks, Properly and efficiently is unbelievably stressful and trying when continuous cruising, working, have Children…… They need to sort their act out because if this with the council or a thorough acting like this there would be lengthy Punishment for their lack of duty of care
