I did not want to start a pledge unless and until I showed some commitment towards the cause. Over the past few years I had this thought of reducing plastic usage. Never got the courage to do so. This new year I started on a positive note and took an initiative to at-least do so in phases. since the past three months I have implemented the phase 1 and would be going into phase 2 from April 1.
In phase 1 I stopped consumption of packaged foods that are unnecessary in day to day survival. For ex: chips, bottled water, Maggie, biscuits, toffees, soft drinks, chocolates etc. I still do use necessary items that come in packaging for ex: salt, spices etc. I have been trying to find an alternative to them too may be would do so by phase three.
What I do instead is rely on local food and mostly cook and eat. It is not only a environmental conscience decision but also is health conscious and is lighter on the wallet.
Having done it I can assure the task only sounds tough but is not. This is a very basic and much required step towards reducing our plastic usage and help build a better environment. If enough people start doing it, I can guarantee that the MNC's will take notice and shift to Eco-friendly packaging. Through my petition I want other citizens of Earth to take a similar pledge to not stop but at-least try reducing the consumption of plastic. If you ever loved the rivers, the mountains, the beaches, the desert, the islands, the oceans and the plateaus this is the least you could do to save them.

I am already practising it and trying by all means to avoid using plastic, I stopped literally buying anything in plastic and I even carry cotton reusable bags as many a times as possible
