I think the school needs to give a discount at least to the extent they are saving on overheads, utilities, maintenance expenses, disposables .. etc in addition to whatever support packages they’re getting on rental relief, interest relief under the central bank relief packages let alone the imbedded profit margins they are already generating which needs to be partially or fully forfeited at the least for this term

How utterly disappointing that the school would ask for parents to fill out a form which is a complete violation of one’s financial privacy! So if the school feels that my salary decrease is not enough, I don’t get a deduction on school fees?? Who are you to decide that? Where is the sense of support during times like this?

The response, empathy and flexibility shown to parents (customers) is nothing short of appallingly bad. Please follow the leadership shown by other schools in recognizing that the service you provide is no longer as per contract in terms of quality and quantity, and provide a blanket fee reduction of 20% for term 3. The way you have managed this so far is disgraceful.

I totally agree, especially when you hear that subproviders (security) are beeing send off by their bosses without any flight ticket home, and no extra salary (6 months unpaid leave).

I strongly believe the school has to contribute their part in this difficult time. Every family has been hit hard.... one term discount is the minimum they should consider.

Fellow parents of the Kings community;
I am signing this petition NOT with the view of seeking a discount on the term fees because my children are not going to school, hence they will not be utilizing the facilities.
My reason to sign is very clear. The school(s) must deliver what was promised in terms of how they will teach and what the children will learn. Their education is suffering. They are not learning at the level they were meant to.
In a letter dated 2 April 2020, Mrs Gary, Director of Education, was very quick to point,” These are truly unprecedented times. As professionals we have had our educational philosophy stretched in so many ways; every day we have to think beyond the obvious and we have never reflected more on our ethos for education as we do now.”
In the current scenario, or “unprecedented times”, what does that mean as a parent? In simple words, (a) we are having to pay for your educational philosophy (b) which has been stretched in so many ways; by that we having to do your job of teaching the children (and yet pay you in full for it), (c) every day we have to think beyond the obvious; in other words, uploading assignments on seesaw for primary children to understand with the help of a parent at home or work and (d) we have never reflected more on our ethos for education as we do now; meaning we still need you to pay in full regardless because you have overhead costs, which certainly are not the responsibility of the parents.
To quote a line form the Kings’s website; “the way children are taught is as important as what they learn.”
What I mean by that is a teacher needs to teach the child. With the current Seesaw approach, the school is merely assigning tasks and asking that an adult assist the child. The school and the KHDA have completely missed the fundamentals of educating. The adult at home is not a qualified teacher. And primary children are far more dependent. They are young and not yet able to understand or perform ma

I have 2 Children at kings school and my family has been impacted by the recent crisis. I urge the management to re-look at the way they are handling this situation.
