They should reduce fare as other public services did when oil prices has dropped significantly in the last 12 months.

Unless HKR can provide transparent and convincing reasons, I don't see why the pricing mechanism of DB ferry service only has one up way to go.

The ferry fare is extremely high already and fare should be reduced with the main cost - fuel cost - falling down.

The purpose of the ferry service should be to provide DB residents/home owners the easy and quick means to connect to the other parts of HK, not for profit-making. Besides, lower ferry fare will attract more people to come live or visit DB.

In 2008 DBTSL started their ferry “revamp” process, which amounted to a reduction in services and a sharp increase in fares. The first increase was quickly followed by two further fare increases. In 2008 a barrel of oil cost US$145. Today the price of a barrel of oil is around US$44. DBTSL should pass on its windfall profits to users by reducing the ferry fares immediately.

HKR should be reported to the Competition Commission for monopolising the route and lack of transparency on price-setting, enabling the ongoing gouging of DB residents

Not only have fuel prices been low but as more apartments come on stream the passenger numbers have increased.
