Petition City of Redlands: "STOP TAKING PROPERTY FROM PRIVATE BUSINESSES!"

Doesn't the city have anything better to do than waste our tax payer dollars on a legal dispute with a beloved Redlands school teacher that has supported thousands of young Redlands natives over the years? Mr. Brown was my 5th grade teacher and when it comes to teaching and mentoring he went above and beyond any teacher or professor I have ever had in my extensive academic career. I am disheartened to see the lack of support and maliciousness that the city has shown someone who taught me so much about life and education at an early age. One of my most cherished school memories is of Mr. Brown bringing our class to the Redlands airport to take turns flying in his plane after we concluded an entire learning unit on aviation. Have you ever had someone expand your imagination and teach you about the fundamentals of physics and aeronautics (let alone in 5th grade)? Likely the answer is no, unless you were fortunate enough to be taught by Mr. Brown. He sparked an entire era of curiosity and learning for me that has carried on throughout the course of my life and I am saddened to see him struggle in a small town that champions the pillars of community. I am telling all of my Redlands friends and family to support Mr. Brown. I want to live in a town with integrity and if our voices are not heard now, they will be at the ballot box.

Just stop the harassment of Coyote Aviation and the Browns. Stop it.

How sad to be forced to use our life savings to fight for our small business! Coyote Aviation doesn't even have any paid employees. The company was created to provide a service to Redlands Airport and its patrons. We do all of the work. On September 19, 2023, City Council member Jenna Guzman-Lowery expressed sincere concern for a homeowner faced with the cost of replacing her new fence with one that was more in keeping with the area historical code. I am certain that she would feel empathy to know that our savings have been wiped out in the legal battle with the city. Note this: The City Council meeting regarding that fence allowed lengthy dialogue between City Council members and the people involved before any decision was made. It was a PUBLIC HEARING. By contrast, Coyote’s constitutional rights have been violated. Coyote has NEVER been allowed a public hearing regarding its lease extension. All Council meetings regarding our company have been done in closed session, secret to the public and to us. ALL of them. In making decisions, Council members have been unaware of the mid-pandemic circumstances that caused what they believed to be a violation of the extension process, a perceived violation that did not occur. That failure to allow us a public forum, a dialogue with those making the decision about our small business’ fate, has caused the draining of our personal bank accounts, affecting our future and that of our descendants. Still, we will not capitulate. We are a company of principle. We are a company of right.

A few bad actors in the city government are using a badly written contract to destroy this business, sad.

I am embarrassed to call Redlands my home.

Keep fighting the good fight

The entire Coyote Aviation litigation is bad for Redlands Municipal Airport and will hamper any more private investment in the facility. It's time for all the parties to get in a room and resolve this issue. Bring your attorneys if needed but stop the costly litigation that will be funded by taxpayers. If the City of Redlands wants to get in the hangar lease business, they should build some.

I surely hope the City Council will review the actual evidence and do the right thing.

I support Coyote Aviation as an excellent business addition to The City of Redlands, and back them in their fight for survival. I am a Highland resident, but owned property in Redlands for 13 years. Regardless of city, we are all a part of Community!

Former resident of Redlands for many years. Coyote Aviation is an asset to the airport, the City of Redlands, and the Community. The city needs to do the right thing - now. Do not destroy Coyote Aviation.

I am a retired airport administrator first as assistant director/COO of Oklahoma City's airports then as San Bernardino County's Director of Airports. In my experience, situations like that experienced by Coyote Aviation were resolved administratively before being taken to a city council or board for approval. The decision to terminate Coyote Aviation's lease without first attempting to reach a mutually acceptable resolution runs contrary to my experience and normal practice in the industry. The success of an airport is dependent on the success of the airport's businesses and tenants. It is a partnership and, in this case, it appears that the City's greed led it straight to a unilateral resolution, rather than an attempt to resolve the issues. Was Coyote Aviation wrong to rely on the discussions it had with city staff? Wasn't the staff the only voice available to Coyote Aviation? Isn't that still the case as this issue drags on?

I have lived in Redlands for 55 years. I have always been proud to call it home and truly believe it was the Jewel of the Inland Empire. The behavior of the City Council and city manager re: Coyote Aviation saddens me as they try to end not only Coyote’s lease but to take their buildings as well. In what world is this acceptable? Did the city put ANY money into the hangar’s construction? The takeaway to future businesses considering locating to Redlands is that if you build it, the city will take it away whenever they see a glitch and an opportunity to make money. Integrity be damned.

I see what the city of Redlands is doing to coyote aviation as a fellow pilot at Redlands Airport and I don’t like it one bit.

Born, raised, educated in Redlands and proud of the warm, supportive city I knew until now. What has happened to the cooperative spirit of city leaders that fostered positive civic engagement for so many years. The attempted taking of Coyote Aviation is a tragic affront to the reputation of the city of Redlands.

Fix Pharoah's Kingdom. This could bring you some money instead of an eyesore from I10. Allow WalMart in North Redlands

City of Redlands needs to grow up and solve this problem out of court. Coyote is a very respectable organization
