Petition City of Redlands: "STOP TAKING PROPERTY FROM PRIVATE BUSINESSES!"

Make a FAIR deal and extend the original lease to Coyote Aviation. Quite being the bad guy and honor the citizens of Redlands and their hard work. This has been insane no matter what you, the City, say. This man built a business and deserves NOT to be robbed of it .

It is unconscionable how the City of Redlands has shown a callous disregard in supporting valued members of the community and their business. Is it just stupidity? Or are there, behind the scenes, bad actors benefiting? It's as if the City is operating somewhere else, above and untouched by the consequences of its actions. How dare you?

Stop stealing other people's businesses because you are greedy, disingenuous, power hungry, predators!

I nearly relocated my company to Redlands many years ago. I am so happy that I did not make the mistake of counting on the city council having integrity.

Shame on the City of Redlands. But also not a very smart move for the future . Why is City Council hellbent on running Redlands into the ground? Don't think we'll forget come election day.

I was a student pilot, became a private pilot, became a commercial pilot, got and instrument rating and became a Certified Flight Instructor all at the Redlands Municipal Airport. My tenure there was from 1967 to 2020, as span of 53 years. I consider Redlands to be my home field. I have helped produce many civic events including breakfasts, airshows, fly-ins and airport flying competitions (flour bombs and spot landings). I have known so much joy and taken a lot of pride in the number of pilots I have instructed and trained. I have watched the airport grow from a dirt ramp with one hangar and one shade hangar to it's present condition today. I've seen many changes. The acquisition by the City of Redlands started as a good thing. Under the utilities department, it was managed well and it started to grow. Time and mis-management have be woven into the airport fabric to now show with accounting and ledgers, that the airport loses money. Bad press, confrontations and a City Council have shed a bad light on the airport. The concept that the airport is just for "rich" people with airplanes, couldn't be farther from the truth. People buy aircraft for different reasons. Pleasure, business, schooling, utilities, transport of goods, fire fighting, Most owners struggle to make payments and maintain their aircraft. They hangar their airplanes to protect their investments. With so many municipalities closing their airports for get rich quick schemes of selling the land to developers, the quantity of available hangars hangars has decreased making demand for them very high. Coyote Aviation constructed their facility on land that no one knew what to do with. Now the City wants those buildings and has started legal action to abscond with another's hard work. The term for this is reversion. If the City truly wants the property, fair market value should be paid for it. The City knows what the property is worth, they have had it appraised numerous times. Taking property of private citizens should not be the role of the government in America.

The Browns are good and decent mall business owners and Redlands residents. The City of Redlands DOES NOT HAVE TO DO THIS. I hope the City will stopping putting form over substance and deal fairly with the Browns. Anything less is shameful overreach.

As voting citizens of our great city of Redlands, we are watching City Council actions and expect nothing less than for the Council to make this right.

Stop Taking Property from Private Business.

I have known the Browns for many years through our connection in Aviation. They are honest and hard working people. I've participated in charitable toy drives with them where they collected an airplane full of toys and flew them many miles, at their own expense, for distribution to needy kids at Christmas. Prior to this action by the City, they were always promoting the Redlands Airport wherever they flew. The attempt by the City of Redlands to confiscate their property is unthinkable and a grotesque overreach by the City officials. I've served as an airport commissioner at an Oregon airport and the thought of a government entity attempting to confiscate the huge investment made by a lessee over a minor misunderstanding, sickens me. The officials with the City that are promoting this action should be ashamed of themselves. In what world does this seem fair? The Browns have been great long term lessees at the Airport and are merely trying to extend their lease and provide funds to the City to help support Airport operations. There is no reason, other than greed, that the City would take this action.

Redlands City Council Members: Please act in the legal and morally proper manner on behalf of those who elected you. Thus far, your behavior in this matter has been shameful.

My family have v been in Redlands and the unincorporated area for 3 generations. I raised my family in Redlands. My sons graduated from Redlands schools, including the UofR. As a pilot, I used the Redlands Airport for over a decade. It had little maintenance, and was getting shabby until Coyote Aviation took in the trash of improving one end of the airport. As a small business owner, as were my forebears, I find this land grab, facetiously disguised as a contract misunderstanding, to be antithetical to American principles and values. This City Council and it's administrative staff ought to be ashamed of their actions. This has been, and continues to be, an outrage. STOP THIS OBVIOUS LAND GRAB, and settle this matter equitably on Nov. 27.

I support small business’ ability to operate in fair commerce without predation by big business and government.

Stop the city from competing with it's residents!

This attempt to brazenly steal Coyote Aviation's building and buisiness is nothing more than a power play by the city to boost it's coffers. It needs to be stopped immediately!

As a long time supporter of small business and flying in general I support Coyote Aviation and the support of small businesses and local entrepreneurs, it's groups like this that are the back bone of our country.
