Petition City of Redlands: "STOP TAKING PROPERTY FROM PRIVATE BUSINESSES!"

Reinstating Coyote’s land lease is the right thing to do and it's in the best interests of the community. Though my family lives out of state now, we will always care about the town that we maintain deep connections to and want the best for it. Coyote Aviation has served Redlands well for a quarter of a century and they should be allowed to continue to do that for years to come. Please city council, do the right thing!

Do NOT close down their business. I will make sure I try to vote you out next election. You are not representative of our town that many of us grew up in and love.

Redlands is all about supporting local businesses. Why is this being allowed to happen.

I support Coyote Aviation along with all private aviation owners and small business owners who want to live out the American dream of owning and operating their own businesses.

I am a current hangar owner at Redlands Airport. I moved from my previous hangars at Rialto Airport after the city of Rialto bought all of us out and closed Rialto airport. The City of Rialto was fair, reasonable, and above board throughout the closure process. While Redlands has not indicated a desire to close the airport, their actions in the Coyote Aviation debacle are the polar opposite of Rialto. They are NOT fair, reasonable, or above board at all. Unethical is a much better description. Shame on the City of Redlands and the managers who are behind this. I though you were better than that!

I am not an owner of one of the Coyote hangers however, I do own 3 other hangers at KREI. I had considered the purchase of an additional hanger on the airport but the city's handling of this transaction has quelled my desire to expose myself to additional financial dealings with the city that I had formally trusted. A decision from the court could possible give Redlands the power to take this property, the important thing is it does not give Redlands the moral right to confiscate property from a citizen who has worked most of his working years for Redlands and invested his entire retirement funds with a city that now may seize that property by taking advantage of a "possible" loophole in the contract. I am a pretty good size guy, I have the POWER to snatch the purse from the elderly lady on the corner. I need to decide how I will use my POWER, do I grab the purse or help her across the street? Your turn to make the decision Redlands, grab the purse and run or give her a hand across the street.

I appreciate the summary of events and look forward to seeing what the outcome is. I had spent some time assisting Carl, the Airport Supervisor at the time and was very impressed with what he was trying to do to implement management and leadership at a facility and resource that appeared to have been neglected by the City Leadership. My impression was that the Ciry had made an effort to hire a person with the background, experience, and skillset to help bring issues such as environmental, security, community, business, safety, navigate a complex regulatory environment, and much more as he had successfully done for the US Navy and USMC in managing environmental and other improvements at these important facilities in the past. What I observed was a manger that appeared to have been empowered by the Civic Leaders that had hired to do a difficult job. When Gil says that he was under the assumption that he was dealing with a person that was empowered by the Leadership of Redlands to renew the leases and manage the airport I would have agreed with him. Perhaps Carl was too good attaches thought he had been hired to do but he is gone now and the City Leaders do not need to concern themselves with that. From what I have seen Carl’s replacement in the Airport Supervisor is working very hard to make the airport successful and I wish him the best of luck. I have a hunch that the new Airport Supervisor is a good person who will follow direction and not color outside the lines of what the City of Redlands management now understands they need to do. Unfortunately what I have observed in this situation is that the City oft Redlands continues to operate as it has throughout history and is a place for a small group that do everything they can to limit the dissemination of information to it’s citizen's. A few years ago I would have strongly disagreed with what I say now and would never suggest that someone invest in a business in this City under the current leadership.

As a 4 term Redlands AAB member and 2 term chair, never have seen such unethical treatment of a Redlands citizen/business.

City of Redlands should not be taking private property of businesses with tactics like they are using. It is disgraceful.

I started flight training and working at Redlands Municipal Airport in 1967. What a wonderful time to start my carrier. I received my private, A&P and IA there. I worked for Redlands Aviation under Fred Davis and Denny Haskins shortly after Roy Haskins and Al Thiose sold the airport to the city. I met people like Pinky and Joe Briar of Tri-City fame, Bob Walls who flew Walt Disney around at one time. I once stood next to Warner Von Braun and didn’t know it. I was friends with General John Sessums and heard many of his stories. I met a multitude of professional people, lawyers, Doctors, scientist, engineers and the likes. Redlands benefited me a great deal. I worked at Red Aero for many years before buying it from Denny Haskins and owned and operated it for 26 years in the original and first hanger there next to the beacon which brought me uncountable experiences. I know these are changing times but have we lost our touch with what a friendly airport or in this case a friendly city is. What do we want to be known for, how do we want to be known for? What is more important in life? I’m amazed and disappointed in what is happening to us…. Not good. Let’s keep a tradition of kindness going, we really need it more than ever. Thank you.
