Bad, overbearing design (sic), contributes nothing to the community, nothing to the site, constitutes development only for the greedy developer who won't have to live with jit.

It would be great to renovate the buildings as they are and keep the area interesting instead of destroying the community the buildings have created. more flats isn't going to make the wick an interesting place. people won't want to live there.

I'm not against development in fish island in general, but given what I have read & seen, these planning permissions need to be restricted & need to be more simpathetic to local surroundings.

This proposed development is totally unsympathetic to its surroundings and would destroy or oblterate so much of this beautful building.

The character of this area depends on its industrial architecture being kept intact. Facadism does not address that and this application should be rejected.

The current applcation would harm the character of the conservation area and be contrary to the aims of it. This dilution of integrity is not acceptable in such an interesting and inherently characterful and historic area.

We need to retain and respect the last remnants of what is the historic architectural fabric of this area. It must be preserved, they are so few buildings like this left that encourage and have encouraged such a wonderful diversity to the area

Our old waterside buildings have so much to offer in historic, aesthetic and educational terms and they are being destroyed. I live in Faversham where we are having a similar battle to prevent oversized, inappropriate creekside development. My sympathy is with the regeneration plans that keep the integrity of the buildings and their environment.

Development should be in keeping with the surrounding area, helping retain local character and preserving existing buildings of historical interest and/or architectural merit. Planning policies are in place to ensure this happens, but they need to be adhered to by both developers and planning authorities. The PA is in contravention of these policies and should therefore be rejected.

It's within the convervation area - If you let this go at the first developer who want's it then you might as well kiss goodbye to the entire area.

There are scarce pockets of London which haven't been ruined by glass, steel, bland and anonymous 'architecture'. Its massively important to not only preserve the buildings as they stand, with their varied uses, but the community too.

I have lived and worked in Hackney Wick over the last 10 years and have always thought Swan Wharf is a fantastic building which can only be ruined by overdevelopment. It is unique and should be treated as such.

Far too many of the former commercial buildings associated with local canals and waterways around the Lower Lea and Fish Island area have already been demolished or developed beyond recognition. It is imperative that those still remaining should be preserved in a recognizable condition both for asthetic and scenic reasons and in order to maintain the areas historical connection with London history as a whole

This is a conservation area for a reason. Without these building in they original state the area will lose it's link to the past and history.

The erosion of light-industrial provision in the East End is destroying the unique character of the area, wiping out the history that makes the area famous around the world, and rendering it nothing more than a dormitory for city workers and a cash dump for the foreign rich. Anything other than a light-industrial future for this building, and thoughtful conservation of its industrial features, would be nothing short of vandalism on a grand scale.

haven't we seen enough 'blanding-away' of London's gorgeous and eccentric pockets. Fish Island and Hackney Wick are special and attractive BECAUSE they have NOT been developed by the unimaginative and the greedy. Go somewhere else. Please!

I have worked in this area for over 10 years and have seen the monumental changes in the area. The very thing that gives this area its unique feeling will be ruined by greedy development. By preserving this group of building in their original state will retain the visual and spiritual feel of the area for the generations to come.

This building should be retained and redeveloped, preferably as work space (its current use) so that local employment is retained within this area. The redeveloped canal-side building that forms part of the nearby Energy Centre is a good example of how old, in this case listed buildings, can easily be incorporated into new developments.
