My grandfather was born in Hackney Wick (Chapman Rd) 1907, and I can see how businesses which occupied buildings at that time influenced his and his siblings’ and descendants’ careers. The blitz bombings already destroyed many homes and buildings, and I feel we owe our heritage the right for these buildings to remain, and for genealogists to be able to visit and have a better idea of where their ancestors grew up, worked, raised families etc. Thank you to Tom for arranging this petition.

Restoration not redesign. In a century from now the original building will be worth more to London’s rich and diverse heritage and identity than some the proposed plans ever could.

It’s not all about money. Other generations need to understand the roots of our modern society. Think about other ways to repurpose this waterfront site.

So, buildings could be retained in Wapping, on the South Bank...but not here apparently. Desecration of industrial heritage for a fake living experience

Please don't develop this beautiful community building . It's our jobs at stake and what's a city without art ?

LLDC proving, without a doubt, they are out of ideas, they are making decisions that are not based on policy or sustainability. A public enquiry needs to be launched into the decisions of these 'high level executives' as they no doubt call themselves. Knocking down heritage for balconys is an embarrassment to them. They never see the bigger picture and the fact they have been split from government Agencies to act autonomously demonstrates without a doubt, that these decisions are being made for the benefit of a select few. This has to stop and the LLDC need to embrace the views of the people rather than sit amongst themselves and decide on the future of an area that they probably have never lived in! Sick of them!
