I agree with all the matters listed on the Petition Document. However, I feel that the item that needs most attention is the white painted LANE MARKINGS around the ENTIRE circuit of the Redbridge Roundabout. Many drivers are mis-guided by these very poor directional lane markings, causing them to cross from lane to lane and risking ( and sometimes even causing ), serious accidents. This happens 24/7, even when the road is not too busy. I also think that Redbridge Lane East should be regarded as a “Main Road” on Entry from the Roundabout as well as exiting onto the Roundabout and the road planners should take this into account when devising the lane markings to be painted onto the road.

Something needs to be done asap.

Traffic lights need to be installed. I'm fed up of queuing for ages and then risking life to join the roundabout!

About time something was done.

Congestion on the roundabout is serious and a great hazard to many motorists.

I reside on Roding lane south, and the back log of traffic often leads up to the nursery by the river entrance. I am often late for work, and for collecting my child from nursery. Please could you address this issue urgently

We, as local drivers are signing this petition for safety reasons as, without traffic lights it is dangerous trying to get on to the Redbridge Roundabout . The traffic already on the roundabout and leaving the M11 make it so difficiult for us to get onto the roundabout as they cross the lights on the amber and almost into the red and so leave such a small window for us to leave Redbridge and get onto the roundabout. I support the petition for something to be done. roundabout

It has been a problem to us for a long time now.

Although I believe in this petition, there is also a need to look at other problems, particularly traffic using Redbridge Lane East. If the traffic exits Redbridge Lane East at a faster pace this will then attract more traffic away from the Eastern Avenue. At the moment outside the rush hour, cars race between the speed humps sometimes using the wrong side of the road as in the case of the sad accident on the corner of Ellesmere Gardens. Thankfully, at the moment traffic can't speed in the rush hour because of the slow movement of traffic out of both ends of Redbridge Lane East but at weekends or 1.00 in the morning it can be like a race track. There are many problems attached to the Redbridge roundabout scheme, not just altering the lights. I do agree that exiting onto the roundabout is a nightmare at the best of times and I feel sorry for the 366 bus drivers trying to get out of the station onto Redbridge Lane East.. Which is why I believe we need an in depth inquiry before any decisions are made. Could the center of the Redbridge roundabout be used (with the use of traffic lights) for buses and coaches with a pedestrian tunnel to the Underground station. This would reduce some of the congestion. To avoid the Dartford tunnel toll, lots of traffic uses the roundabout to get to Folkestone and Dover via the Blackwall tunnel. Could the A406/M11 have a better connection to the road to Blackwall tunnel, avoiding the roundabout. There are many more possibly cheaper suggestions that need to come from an inquiry.
