My husband and I enjoy hiking here and are always irked by this outdated law that makes no sense for it to even exist. We both have our CFP's and this area should reflect the state/federal laws that are in place throughout the state.

This archaic law needs to go. It makes zero sense to be able to legally carry throughout the entire state and 90% percent of all national parks, but not in a BLM area?

A gun without bullets is basically just a club. You cant defend your self effectively with a unloaded firearm.

I would strongly urge that the lawful carry of loaded firearms be permitted in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. This would align its procedures with most other state and federal parks and conservation areas, and allow visitors to protect themselves in a much more reasonable and practical sense. Allowing the carry of an unloaded firearm makes very little sense, and does not grant people the ability to protect themselves in a efficient way. This would simply be a rule change, to bring this conservation area up to the same standards as nearly all other state and national parks or recreation areas in the country.

Common sense would tell you that a firearm unloaded with no magazine in the weapon will not protect me or my family. It’s better to have it than not have it!

This only stops law abiding citizens. No one else. This does nothing to ensure anyone is safe. It only makes good people less safe as it will take longer for them to ready their weapon if it is needed.

I am doing this because I am a big believer in having the right to carry it should be a natural right common law not modern law or modify law that interfere with your right to bear arms and carry second amendment at the end of the day it’s your right to carry for

With American values continuously being eroded in what seems like week after week, month after month, it is of the utmost importance we continue to preserve all of our rights, including 2nd amendment carry rights. Not allowing carrying firearms legally in Red Rock only makes it so criminals can carry and will allow innocent families and individuals to be at the mercy of criminals. This is absurd and unfair for law abiding citizens to not be able to have the means to properly defend their families and themselves. Imagine a family or individual simply trying to go off to a hike and take in nature only to run the possibility of being held up at gunpoint by actual criminals and having no means of defense simply because only a few narrow minded individuals are to afraid to understand the importance and usefulness of being legally armed. The right to self preservation must never be taken away from us. Let's begin by doing the right thing and allow us hardworking, law abiding citizens to be able to legally carry in Red Rock and take personal safety into our hands where it belongs, as our founding fathers would have wanted it to be in the first place.
