As much as I love the colour purple, the uniform should be red, as in Tidwell. I do not want to spend unnecessarily on a new uniform for my son for one year left at that school. Grrrrr!

Purple is not an openly available colour to buy in school uniform from a regular retailer, leaving us parents no choice but to buy through the school who I expect will get a cut from the sales, but what really upsets me is all those old uniforms in the red or blue that will be thrown away on the scrap heap.. Let's say each child has 3 redwell tops and there's approx 200 kids at the school that's potentially 600 tops going to landfill what a waste of money and damage to the environment, when we could easily hand down what we have already to younger siblings or rebadge the old ones with a sew on patch

for a local education authority school to inform parents that it is re branding is a disgrace. generally only commercial businesses re brand, and often only when they are in trouble. moving to a purple uniform appears to be a very selfish decision and one taken with what appears to have been no consultation with parents. this is a decision that will have a financial impact on every single parent. whilst some parents can afford a uniform at a premium price from a sole supplier, there are more parents who cannot afford this kind of change in the current economic climate. I understand the desire to become individual and stand out, but instead of changing the uniform make the school and its students stand out with educational achievements instead.

The letter is simply as a result of unwanted media attention.
If Fridays letter had been sent in the first place then I'm pretty certain I would never have started this petition.
I still don't think for one moment that the school have any intention of keeping an existing colour.
The children will be encouraged to choose purple, but as they are not paying for the uniform, why would the majority object?!
They say the existing colours will not benefit the school and purple will present a new image and identity etc etc. laughable really as a new colour will not make the children more intelligent.
Then to add insult to injury they say families who do not return the slip will automatically be in favour of the proposal.
Firstly if you are a year 6 only parent, why would you care what colours & costs are involved, your child is leaving anyway! Secondly, new reception children who are expecting to be wearing hand me downs don't get a say.
This is not how a voting system works and in my opinion is almost just as bad as not having been consulted in the first place.

I really think it is unfair they are not phasing the uniform in! I have just bought 2 sets of uniform this year with the view it would last until my eldest left and my youngest , who has only just started, for at least 2 years! I cannot afford to change it all again!
