Every lower mainland community should have a recycling program that is functioning and effective. We must start being responsible for our junk!

I own a house at 117 Fifth Avenue, New Westminster. Closing our local depot will only mean styrofaoms, glass jars, light bulbs, batteries, etc. will end up in our regular garbage. We're not going to wait hours in line, and/or pay, and burn the gas, to go over to Coquitlam.

This is ludicrous!! Fire whosever stupid idea this is. They obviously have no clue that every bit of saving the planet is important.

This is great community service that enables New West residents to do their part in recycling.
I am quite concerned that if this depot goes so will many resident commitment to the program. Local access is very important to the neighbours I have spoken to.

I foresee many not wanting to make the trip to the new depot and throwing more in the trash, instead of recycling.

Closing the recycling centre by Canada Games Pool and relocating it to United Blvd. is a bad idea. New Westminster needs its own recycling centre for items like glass, soft plastics and styrofoam which are not collected at the curb.

I work at Canadian Matteess Recycling and live in New West. It really would be terrible on many different levels to close the recycling depot. please dont..

You should also contact the commercial garbage haulers working in this city..One toaster or little green propane tank found in their 9 tonne load and they could get fined..In one of the the most walkable cities in BC needing to DRIVE to the nearest other depot in an entirely other city is ridiculous!! The fact that the traffic has gotten exponentially worse in the 12 years I have lived where I do..Now at rush hour it takes me 10 minutes to move 1/2 block so I can park in front of my house..never mind that it takes 45 or more minutes sitting in bumper to bumper traffic just to get through the Braid and Brunette intersection from 6th and 6th.. then when you get to the other depot its crowded and messy and there are screws, shards, and nails all over the pavement to puncture your tires.. What are we paying the city council for making such decisions?

Where are the logistical studies demonstrating that this is a move driven by rationale?

Closing the depot will discourage proper waste disposal especially green waste.
