Please keep locally! Less emissions is more important than a few saves bucks. Come NW! We can do this! Thanks Anne

All services should be local within urban communities. All communities should be self-sufficient. Local, local, local right? It is up to City Council to support that philosophy with dollars if necessary. However, shutting down the only local recycling facility is DOUBLY ludicrous - since this is a service that helps the environment and driving to another city ruins the environment! Not to mention adding to the traffic problem. Well, the lunatics are in charge of the asylum after all.

This must stay in New West. It’s vital for our planet and to keep New West clean. Everyone will throw the recyclable in the garbage. New West already doesn’t collect glass. How much of that is going in the garbage.

Disagree, do not shut down the recycling area as it serves the community.

How can you expect people to transit to Coquitlam to recycle!!!

I absolutely disagree with closing the recycling depot in New West - they do not need to move it - it takes very little space and is well used.

The recycling has to stay in a central location in New West. Otherwise 80% of the recycling will end up in the land fill.

Best to keep it where it is

The current location is great for all residents of new west.

We use the recycling at that location very often. It is a shame to shut it down.

Dumbest thing ever. What would a person do if they don’t have a car?

I support keeping the recycling depot in its current location. Less pollution if we don’t have to commute a longer distance.

New West should start thinking more about what our cummunity wants. Shame on you for wanting to take this away from us.

What a joke! Some of the money they said they will be saving, they used to pay a consultant (how much was that BTW?) to tell us that they needed a raise! That and the cost of their new raise probably would have covered the cost and running of the recycle depot for the foreseeable future. And that Brunette interchange is already the worst one in the city for trying to get through if you are leaving New West or trying to get into New West from either of the Coquitlam sides at any time of day. What with those multiple train tracks there... From the plans of the new Aquatic Center that I had seen, they could have made room for the depot right where it is. They just didn't want an "ugly" recycle depot at their new showcase facility. Talk about a case of Nimbyism!

As someone who cycles to the depot, it can already take an hour for round trip based on what I'm taking there. If it was moved to Coquitlam my round trip could easily be 3 hours. Beside larger depots with scales to weigh vehicles don't accept or like having cycles entering their yards.
