It doesn’t make sense to have recycling depot outside of our community where we will need to emit more carbon emissions to get there.

Recycling is a conscious choice, and by removing this depot situated in a high density residential and strata area, a lot of the material currently recycled at the depot will likely go straight into garbage bins.

This loss is a shame. A much better solution should be developed with New West community consultantation.

We need a local recycling solution. Driving to Coquitlam to recycle is counterproductive to reducing out carbon footprint. Are my taxes going to be lower with the savings? Why stop at recycling? We could all drive our garbage to Coquitlam as well.

Does council really expect people to drive through one of the busiest intersection in the Lower Mainland to go to Coquitlam to recycle? The sad reality is that many people will throw their recyclables in the garbage. I recently had someone drop off a car battery in our alley because they were to lazy to take it to the recycle depot. If this moves happens I will NOT be voting for Mr. Cotes or any of the current council members in the next election.

Do you know that the Coquitlam Depot was underbidding everyone by a million dollar. And I was talking to the one guy there. He said he was making $28 per hour with waste tech now they pay him $15. He said there front end loader has a bungie cord holding the door closed. And rats are everywhere now.

The traffic to get to a recycling depot on United would be a major deterrent for me to use it.

Recycling isn't going to go away. We need the facility, handy to the citizens of our city. Stop trying to ship trash to another neighbourhood. NIMBYism.

Frustrating the Mayor and city council fail to meaningfully consult citizens once again before making these kinds of decisions.

What good is a climate action plan without a recycle facility in our own city?

People are not going to recycle if they have to go to Coquitlam.

It seems this our current city council have lost sight of good environmental practices, with overdevelopment and nowhere within our city to recycle, and no.... small collection centres will not fill the bill.
