Please keep the recycling depot in New Westminster. We use the depot year round, every week starting in the spring to the fall. Moving it to Coquitlam will be 20 to 30 minutes further to go as we live near 20th street & 7th ave.

Recyclables will end up elsewhere except in Coquitlam.

It seems evident from the local outcry that many use our local recycle station which is a good thing. Moving it further away will possibly see these people no longer making the effort to go further afield to recycle.

Although I live in New Westminster, I’ve had many people I know, not from this city, state how fortunate I am to have a recycling facility in such a small city. They mention larger cities need more “neighborhood” recycling depots in convenient locations so more people can take advantage instead of dumping everything into their garbage. Maybe as well as joining in a cost sharing regarding recycling, we should also join in the cost sharing of Mayor and council, policing, fire department, parks and board of works. After all those are the BIG COSTING ITEMS. Lets amalgamate with them, bringing down the costs of the number of mayors, council, police, fire and city workers. After all, amalgamation might work, if it applies to all monies the city dictates we must pay yearly.

Closing this recycling depot is the dumbest idea ever! New West needs to make smarter "green" choices for the community. People will not drive to Coquitlam... traffic is a nightmare.

I support keeping the existing recycling depot within the borders of New Westminster and pulling out of the cooperative depot as proposed by the Director of Engineering Services and passed by our Mayor and Council. More effort to find a location within our city and more consultation with residents should have occurred BEFORE committing to this change. Perhaps the depot could be relocated to Queens Park on the site of the old Arenex.

Moving recycling to Coquitlam is a bad move for our environment, as it’s too far away and people will end up putting more recyclable items in the garbage and that is not a good thing.

This is a great recycling center. People will not put stuff in the garbage rather than drive to Coquitlam, which takes ages because of the traffic.

This was a definite benefit to the New Westminster residents.

Please do not close this valued facility. That would be an absolute shame.

If I’m forced to go to Coquitlam a lot more stuff will end up in the trash. It’s really inconvenient to go that far

Save fuel & reduce vehicle travel emissions by keeping the recycle plant LOCAL.
