I use it all the time! It was one of the reasons we bought our place in New West!

Please find an alternate location for this recycling depot in New West.

The City either should also collect the extra items, like soft plastics, glass containers, etc. or find a new location for the depot to avoid extra vehicle pollution.

our family frequents the new west recycling station multiple times per month. too bad all those products will no go in the garbage as the "new" facility is not serviced by transit so we won't be going there...

It makes me sad that after decades of collecting old batteries and lightbulbs, styrofoam, plastic bags and glass, I will be sending them to the landfill instead. I will not be driving over to Coquitlam to recycle. This is a crime against nature. Limiting access to recycling does not increase recycling by the public. New Westminster City Council is saying that recycling is not important. This will be a major election issue. I wish I knew about this before the last election. I guess that is why they tried to keep this quiet. I believe this will cost less as a service simply because there will be less material to deal with (much less recycling) and lower overheads with all the collection done at one site

Keep it simple! Driving our green waste and boxes out of the City does not make sense.

The City of New Westminster will have to pay the tipping fee for all greenwaste brought to the Metro Vancouver transfer station by New West residents. This is an significantly increase in current costs. As well, the new transfer station will not be open until mid 2021 - if not later. When has a Metro Vancouver solid waste facility opened on time. New Westminster is a proud community who's residents have embraced reducing and recycling. New recycling initiatives were easily adopted and implemented like Styrofoam, film plastic and flexible plastic. To lose such a facility is a big loss to the community. I would encourage the staff to seek an alternative location. The current site is less than an acre and performs well. Surely the City can locate a similar parcel of land. There is plenty of unused space at Queens Park or even Moody Park.

Singing us off to a place that is one of the hardest to get to with Braid and Columbia the worst intersection in all of New Westminster is bad enough. Taking the current depot which is capable of accommodating the traffic it gets with little effort on the staff and the city. The recycling program is terrible for apartment dwellers. I can take the plastic, foam and glass that is not accepted in garbage pick ups. In a world that is choking on past mistakes, please don 't make another one. There are more young people moving into the city. Welcome them with a well thought out plan for the city. It's so much more that a ill conceived plan that is basically ego stroking for the mayor and council. This is a major election issue more and more

Residents of New Westminster deserve to have a recycling depot in our City. Many people will not make the drive to Coquitlam and, therefore, will end up throwing away recyclables. A depot needs to remain in New Westminster.

i walk to the current depo 3x month to bring glass, styrofoam. Garden waste is also brought by our coop. Pickup is restricted for the above mentioned. Now what?

for residents without blue box pickup this is a lifeline. What are we going to with glass, styrofiam, garden waste? Multi resident pick up dors not take these. I walk to the present depot 3x a month . I have no car

The NW recycling depot is an integral part of the City. Closing it is short sighted, and will make a significant impact on the City, and the planet. Many residents WILL NOT travel to Burnaby or elsewhere to recycle various materials. Rather, they will throw recyclable items in the garbage. Those residents that do choose to travel to Burnaby or elsewhere, will increase their carbon foot print simply by travelling a much longer distance. Seriously, do the right thing. Look past the dollars and think about whats right for the planet. Whatever the NW recycling centre costs to operate, is priceless.

As a lifetime resident of the city and business owner (Hyack Contracting). This facility is not only convenient for homeowners because of its central location. It has become a institution or landmark of this city. Alway friendly city employees helping do the right thing and keeping the city clean and encouraging homeowners to do there part. The idea of this being removed in place for a new “green” facility is very backwards. I would love to see the city put a small amount of money into the current location. Maybe a new office area and a update to the entrance to give the space a more appealing look for years to come.

It's madness to think people have to drive to Coquitlam to recycle. Try that during rush hour. Pollute to recycle? Come on council...

I come at least one a month to the recycling depot. It is a busy place I never seen the depot empty there is always people and cars there. It is a shame to consider closing it
