Hey Everyone, In the past couple months i have been in contact with some city counselors and the director of waste and water management trying to bring RecycleBank to Winnipeg. For those of you who don't know what RecycleBank is, it is a company based in the United States that rewards the participants for recycling. Each household is given a recycling bin that has a unique bar-code on it and when the recycling is collected each bin gets scanned and weighed. You are then rewarded with points depending how much your household has recycled that week. These points are redeemable at over 1,500 local and national businesses, including Starbucks, McDonalds, IKEA, Subway and even eBay. All of us Winnipegers are witness to the tremendous amount of recyclable products not only in our garbage cans, but also on our streets. By instituting a program like RecycleBank each family would be decreasing their garbage production by 1.3 tons per year. This would have a significant impact on Manitoba and Canada's environment. My goal is to bring RecycleBank to Winnipeg and hopefully with your support we can make this happen! Please sign the Petition in support!
