If there will always be places for alums at SMC, why not make one of those places the Rec Center!?

Its definitely unfair that the rec center is so new yet alumni wont be able to take advantage of its benefits. Some people dont have the time to be able to enjoy it and this would be a great opportunity post graduation.

Frustrating when your tuition money pays for it but you graduate the year before it opens, so I never even got a tour!

What happened to that June 6th usage? Or the recent graduating class being able to use the gym until August?

I'm a recent graduate of Saint Mary's College and this is petition is needed. My undergraduate school has alumni membership and I found that Saint Mary's not having a similar policy to be odd and unfair to the alumni who wish to keep their gym membership in some capacity.

I graduated as part of the Class of 2015 but finished classes in December 2014. I was shocked they wouldn't let me use the rec center with the rest of my 2015 classmates. #OMGSMC

College tuition is high enough as it is. Leaving students with absurd amount of debt and having the nerve to ask recent graduates a generous donation is disrespectful. Give the graduating class and future graduates acess for future recreational use. We are a school about giving, let's pass it on.

This will not only give alumni a better way of staying connected to Saint Mary's. This will also continue to evolve our school as many around us quickly pass us up.

Totally agree! I emailed the Rec Center a week ago about this situation, and I received no response! That is totally unacceptable. I also emailed the Alumni Association, who said it wasn't their decision. As a recent SMC graduate about to begin graduate school at another university, I can guarantee that I will carefully consider in the future which school I give back to.
