I don't see why I can't work out there when I still consider myself a part of the community. Isn't that how SMC wants us to feel? If they don't, they should stop asking me for money!

I'm a local alum and I find it absurd that I don't have access to something that my tuition paid for!

If Saint Mary's College wants to live the words its continuously speaks about its dedication to its Alumni base they need to show it. All parts of OUR home should always be open to us. The administration sells the idea of family to those considering coming to Saint Mary's; they should show it to those that made the decision to be come part of this family

Saint Mary's Alumni should still have access to the recreation center after they graduate. Also, current students should be able to bring guests in as well. Another topic for debate.

alumni earned the right to free access to facilities with backbreaking amounts of tuition for our years at SMC. absolutely ridiculous it isn't already the case.

Most private Catholic schools have the option for Alumni to use their facilities - for a fee. This could be offered to SMC alumni as well. It will offset the costs of running the facility and keep Alumni in touch with SMC. Could be good for future Alumni fundraising. Good all around. Otherwise they'll join a public facility - then you've lost them. Keep them around - Its good for all.

Dear President Donahue and Beloved Christian Brothers,
The sentiments in this petition are put forth with respect and obvious logic. We are surprised that the Christian Brothers who "have been working to transform lives for more than 320 years" and who believe in "Christian education, especially for the poor", could be so oblivious to the perception of SMC that has occurred by the denial of use of this facility for its own SMC family. It was particularly sad and rather ill-mannered to shut down the use of the Recreation Center immediately after the graduation ceremony. Most of the Class of 2016 were still in Moraga until the end of May and went to the center as they do every day only to find that they were shut out. How unfortunate that one minute after their hard 4 years of work and dedication to SMC , they are no longer welcome. These young people were under much stress and had a daily workout ritual to maintain their health, which was why the center was built and so generously funded by OTHER SMC ALUMNI. To bar these 2016 graduates instantly was hurtful, unnecessary and uncalled for. Presently, the campus appears to be empty and the facility could have been easily open to ALL students and alumni throughout the summer. What a kind and thoughtful gesture that would have been and so easy for the college.
It would be so blessed if we could remember to 'think of others' in our decision making. Please allow all alumni to use the Joseph Alioto Recreation Center through some well-thought out membership plan that would take into account
'the poor' that SMC has a mission to support.( perhaps a sliding scale)
The past decisions on the Recreation Center are regretful and embarrassing for SMC, but they can this memory can be erased by future decisions that involve logical and compassionate thinking. Please remedy this situation as soon as possible and let SMC show the same courtesy and respect to their alumni as most colleges and universities across the country do, in

I agree with the above stated, however, think a lifetime membership would only encourage greater support by alumni!

I graduated undergrad 2015 and still remain as a grad student at SMC. This place is empty all the time. Such a waste of money. Open it to all alumni
