Dearest Most Reverend Bishop Peter Jugis,
We're prayerfully writing to you to ask for reconsideration regarding Father Richard Sutter’s transfer and allow him to remain at St. Patrick's or a minimum, within the MACS system. Father Sutter has lifted the spirits of children and adults with his insightful homilies, which come from the Holy Spirit, and under his guidance more have returned to the church. His enthusiastic and approachable personality always made the children feel welcomed and completely at ease and has made such a tremendous impact. He is truly a Shepard leading our lambs to our Lord by his Christ-like life and example and through the power of the Holy Spirit. In our world of turmoil and everyday stress, we pull together to help each other with true love, which is encouraged by a man who loves being a priest and what he does as a priest of God. We know in our hearts that he is truly destined for much greater things as a priest of God but we feel his work in our children in the MACS system is not yet done.
With this dearest Most Reverend Bishop, we ask for you to prayerfully reconsider his transfer to keep some stability in the Diocese of Charlotte.

Father Sutter has been wonderful with my son, Adam, who is part of the Matthew Morgan program at St Patrick. We would appreciate his continued work with Adam and the rest of the children at St Patrick and in the MACS system. He has an amazing rapport with the children in the MACS system and in our opinion it would be a tremendous advantage to them if he was allowed to stay here in charlotte.
Bishop - LET HIM STAY !!! - since meeting Fr Sutter over 1 yr ago - I have gotten to know a man that has made an impact on not only St Patrick Parish but the students at St Pat's, Holy Trinity and Charlotte Catholic - His personality has endeared him to the students and families. I an a former parishioner of St Pats who recently considered rejoining the parish mainly because of meeting Father Sutter. please reconsider - Thank you
My 2nd grader wouldn't have made it through the sacraments without Fr. Sutter's help and perseverance. She has anxiety that made the sacraments especially hard on her. It was a real blessing for our family to have Fr. Sutter's help and I would hate for her to lose that connection now that she is finally comfortable . I couldn't be more thankful for what he did for her!
I feel that Father Sutter is an integral part of the Young Adults group at St. Patrick's Cathedral, I would credit his involvement as part of the reason the group is growing.
Fr. Sutter was an integral part of the St. Patrick School family. From greeting students at carpool to chaperoning field trips to bringing the message of the Gospel to an actionable message on their level to explaining the “what’s” and “why’s” of our faith to inspiring our students on how to live a life of faith...be it as a Priest, Deacon, Sister, or a layperson.
You ask the Bishop to reconsider the transfer of Fr. Sutter in order to "keep some stability within the diocese." I know this petition is old, but it's also very selfish. There are many other Good and Holy Priests that are capable of filling Fr. Sutter's shoes. But are you aware of the instability that rocked the Waynesville area? That is in the Diocese of Charlotte too, is it not? In fact, it seems the Bishop did take into account the Stability of His Diocese when he moved Fr. Sutter. Waynesville is only two and a half hours away. Go visit him in the summer if you don't want to lose the connection you have with him. But as the main catechists to your children, you should continue the good work in them that he started. Right?
Please keep Father Sutter in the MACS system. It would mean a great deal to my kids to have him at St. Pat's another year. Such a wonderful influence in our parish and diocese.

On the last day of school I picked up my 2nd grade daughter and a handful of her friends from class. The backseat conversation was about how much they will miss Father Sutter and “his homilies and stories.” Father Sutter has made church fun and interesting for the kids at St. Pats. The girls in my backseat went on and on reminiscing the spiritual stories Father Sutter has shared with them and how it made them feel. I would love nothing more for him to stay and continue to nurture their spirituality in a way that truly engages them like no other can.
