I work with Catholics for Freedom of Religion who seek to preserve relisious freedom for all. The HHS mandate is a blatent denial of freeedom of conscience and imposes the government's definition of what should deny someone's conscience as well as which organizations are religious enough, in the government's opinion.

The majority of recent grads are male and Catholic. Why was this non-Catholic female chosen? And why is it so important to elect to the board a very young person with so little of the wisdom gained by living, working and parenting?

What is the value added other than absolute disagreement with values of the Catholic Church and history of Notre Dame?

LOL even my most conservative friends at Notre Dame think that the Irish Rover is out of touch. Good one Rich Maggi, good one.

Restore our University with some moral leadership. God Bless our University so that the Priests, Teachers, and Administers may instill in the minds and hearts of our young men and women a strong moral and social code in addition to their educational pursuits such that they may be leaders in our communities, our businesses, and our Nation-AMEN!

Notre Dame is supposed to be a beacon to the faithful. Katie Washington is not likely to understand the Faith, and if she does, to contradict it. She is thoroughly worldly and could never help anyone at ND find the Way that Christ spoke of.

ND Fellows should see that their fiduciary obligations to the university are met.

As a parent of three alums, I can't tell you how it breaks my heart to see the changes that are happening at Notre Dame. We sacrificed to send them there believing there was something special there that would help their faith grow strong. Our Lady must be so sad to see what's happening. This recent appointment can only bring harm to what was once a beautifu oasis of faith. Mary, pray for a return to our faith.

It makes you wonder what vetting process is used by the university in trustee nominations?

There are other options to develop the board of Trustees with women, younger members and faith. Due diligence in retaining Catholic character is a must for Notre Dame
