My family are long-time supporters of Notre Dame, but this is breaking our hearts. What is more important than having Trustees who will defend and protect ALL human life???

So disappointed in Notre Dame. After giving Barack Obama an honorary law degree, I stopped my long term annual donation to the Sorin Society. I had no problem with him as commencement speaker but giving an honors law degree to someone who used a legal argument in refusing to support the Newborn Protection Act twice while on the Illimois Senate is the height of hypocrisy on the part of the University.

I am an alumnus of St. Peter's Prep, same class at Fr.Brian Daley, SJ, and Holy Cross College who looks upon Notre Dame to be voice of the Catholic Church in the US.

What makes Notre Dame special, what has always made it a sacred place, is it's identity, it's Catholic identity. But the university now seems pulled to serve the world the way the world wills, rather than serve the Lord, and thus the world as God wills. Notre Dame keeps forgetting her true self. Please, ask the Blessed Mother, this place is special to her, because the world may want a secular Notre Dame, a cool Notre Dame that goes along with abortion and birth control and okaying sin in policy and punishing those who hold to their faith in the public square, but what the world needs, is more places of salt and light, more places that are willing to be fully Catholic in all things, without counting the cost.

My mother attended Notre Dame and we are very saddened. Notre Dame needs to remain 100% Catholic and defend innocent life. Please replace Ms. Washington.
