I understand the pride that Notre Dame feels in Ms. Washington's accomplishments. However, she remains a young lady of extremely limited life experience, and holds views at odds with clearly relevant aspects of Catholic doctrine. Regardless of whatever impact this appointment may have on the pending HHS litigation, the appointment strikes me as extremely two-faced.

I simply cannot understand the thinking of those who are supposed to be the shepherds of what is best for ND. Very disappointing.

I am sorry to learn of the appointment of Ms. Katie Washington to the Board of Trustees. How can the University go against it's own teachings and those of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? I hope you will correct this mistake and appoint someone who seeks to serve the Lord.

Without going into reasons why the appointment of this Young woman, herself sadly a Notre Dame graduate, in my opinion is not one that should be be given membership to the University Board of Trustees. This pattern of behavior is becoming more troublesome to me as one who wishes to look to Notr Dame as an outstanding CATHOLIC institution amidst the sea of secular institutions around us. Should Notre Dame continue to experiment in usch a way, our university becomes one of many rather thna a beacon of light in our current world.

As a member of our Parish Respect Life Committee, I and my colleagues feel betrayed by the University of Notre Dame in the appointment of Ms. Washington.
