While I understand the traditions and backstory, a female should never need a man's approval to do what she wants... Its 2015!

The adults in this organization are there for the purpose of representing the girls opinions. In Jobie congress it was voted with an 80% majority in favor of sponsorship and the fact that the adults will not respect the daughters wishes is deplorable. This organization is meant to teach young women responsibility. What message are they receiving when they take responsibility for their opinions , speak up and have a voice, and the voting members reject their opinions and turn them down?

The majority vote at supreme session 2014 and supreme session 2015 have been pro this amendment by daughter vote. Therefore, this amendment should be passed. This is a daughter organization and by failing this motion for the second year in a row, we are not supporting the daughter voice.

Ethel T. W. Created Job's Daughters as a way of inacting Women's suffrage - even though the name of the sorority holds a man's name within it.
That bit of irony aside, in this time of politics and popular culture revisiting women's rights over their bodies, clothing, and health care - perhaps this IS the perfect window to address older traditional mindsets that are closed and in fact "set".
Let us listen to the daughters. We taught them to lead and speak, but we need to learn to listen and have a discussion with them.
Before women could vote, they could NOT vote and many didn't want that change because "it is tradition" and it "is the way it always has been" and "it is how Grandma did it so it will be how my child does it".
Let us keep the origin story of the order in our minds and the lessons we teach on our lips as we discuss this.
It isn't about tradition for everyone.
Some ladies want this sorority to not have its very existence premised on a relationship to a man , or dependent on the choices the men in our lives make.
Selecting a Mason to partner with us and making a conscious decision to partner with our Lodges to bring in new members is better for Bethels, Lodges and the entire Masonic Community, It allows young women to meet and get to know actual, living Masons and add role models and friends into their lives.

This has been an issue since before I started Jobies, and I hit Majority five years ago. While I'm not surprised it hasn't passed, I am embarrassed that it has not. It's plain silly to require "Masonic heritage." The Masonic heritage required can be so far distant from the Daughter in question (and not even by blood) that there is really no difference between "heritage" and sponsorship. I hear the argument, "But it sets us apart from the other Masonic youth organizations." Yeah, it also makes us discriminating jerkfaces, which isn't good for a philanthropic organization. It's also adds to the difficulty of bringing in new members. This should be a no-brainer!
