this is absolutely disgusting and I do not approve of this in office training of clinical personnel. this not only lowers the standards of registered dental assistants but if allowed to happen would only provide fake dental assisting but also put the public at risk

I agree: dental regulators to ensure that the practice of non-accredited in-office training of individuals to serve in the place of formally educated/licensed RDA/CDA/DA in the dental office cease immediately to ensure the safety, health and well-being of Canadians.

The Manitoba Dental Assistants Association needs to be it's own regulatory body completely separate from the Manitoba Dental Association!!!!!! I still make out my yearly Manitoba Dental Assistant Association fees out to the MDA! Our boss's run our association, that is a conflict of interest.

I dont agree with dentists trajning individuals "off the street". There is a certified course for a reason. Its unsafe for patients to be under someone without full knowledge of the field and human body.

Unbelievable that this practice still continues . It is an insult to our formal education and training and many CE Hours we must complete to hold a license . Registered dental assistants must pay fees to their regulatory body annually . Makes me wonder why we pay into a so called professional organization when others aren’t required to . I’ve been i this profession for over 25 years . I find it disappointing that we still do not get recognition for the importance of what we do . I‘ve said it before and I’ll say it again , it is time to unionize this profession ! Until dental assistants are treated in the same manner as ALL other health care workers , dentists will continue to hire unqualified employees . Wonder what a patient would think if they were aware of this ? Would a nurse just get training on the job ? Time to stop allowing dentists to hire this way and hold themselves to a higher standard .

I worked 44 years as a Dental Assistant. People in this profession need proper training.

Isnt that what registration should prevent from happening?

I thought that was why we pay for a license! If this is allowed and goes forward I'd like to suggest we stand together and refuse to pay for our license.

Justice for all the assistant ... without them dental practices can not run. Our colleagues are underpaid, no rights or benefits and now personal without training performing oral assistance?? Let’s be unified against this matter

An accredited Dental Assistant Training Program has to remain mandatory for anyone considering a Career in the Dental field. This is a serious issue as potential new Graduates will be providing Oral care to the Public......Seriously this shouldn't even be up for debate!
