I work with a girl that is trained in house and the mistakes she makes and the incorrect things that are said to patients is scary!!

A pandemic is just one example of how critical is it that ALL staff in a dental office are certified from certified programs!!!!
As a population I believe the patients are not aware this isn’t the case... in many offices.

Thank you CDAA for making your members aware of in-office training that is being provided by Dentists. Hopefully many dental assistants will sign this petition to oppose in-office training.

I completely opposed the hiring of non trained people to learn on the job the position of the Dental Assistant. That practice does have the safety of the patient nor the employee as a priority. It does continue an attitude that the Assistant is not to be respected. It also prevents the employee from knowing what their own legal rights are to be able to work with in the Scope of Practice for Dental Assistants.

Listen to the staff that has been trained specifically for the job. We can focus on infection control while dental professionals focus on the dentist

Dental assistants without a diploma need not fear losing their jobs- there are processes in place to recognize and accredit on-the-job skills so you will be included and not left behind

I believe that formal training that leads to a degree or attestation should be mandatory along with an internship period.
