Dentists don't know half of the things the staff do for patient safety and comfort so how would they train staff to do things properly

This shouldn’t even be an issue. It’s a disgrace that untrained clinical personnel have been allowed to practice in dental clinic in B.C. it should be against the law. For the safety of the patients and the staff.

Folks pay for their education in this field only to be replaced by untrained workers to save money at publics expense

Anyone who works on a patient or is dealing with sterilization should be trained at an accredited facility.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention for petition signature.. Our goal is to move FORWARD not backwards! Formal education at an accredited school, licences & continuing education are a must for our careers. I stand behind our association to keep unlicensed and improperly trained people from working in the dental office.

Registered Dental assistants need to be recognized for the position we hold in a Dental practice.

I’ve worked a long 40 years as a Dental Assistant and have kept my points and training intact , it would be a shame to go totally backwards after all our progress .

It will lower the bar for Dental Assistant s wages! We can't afford to revert backward anymore!

Sounds like something a dentist invented to save a few dollars.

The real problem needs to be address. Pay assiatants a liviable wage, follow labour laws, treat them with respect. The dentist, once again, are implemented laws that benefit only them. No wonder there is a shortage of dental assisitants. I, for one, am very vocal about expressing my views to anyone thinking about the dental assisting course...it's a hard no!!!! I tell anyone considering it, to do the LPN course insted. Better pay, benifits, respect, something we have none of...sad.

We have worked very hard to be recognized with accreditation. If this is allowed to happen , then it was all for naught. Maybe salaries / benefits etc have an impact on the shortages and further consideration given to these make the profession more appealing

I strongly believe that Canadians deserve qualified/certified dental assistants. Non-accredited chairside assistants must stop across Canada.
