LET OUR CHILDREN PLAY: DAILY RECESS FOR ALL FLORIDA OSCEOLA COUNTY SCHOOL CHILDREN & THE ENTIRE STATE OF FLORIDA

In NY where I originally Am from, we do 30 mins a day for the children . And I totally agree with this.

This is happening at private schools as well.

Recess needs to happen for the kids

Please understand how important this is for children to allow them to expel energy.

kids need daily recess- an Osceola county teacher and mom of three.

The district just doesn't seem to understand the importance of movement during the day for our children to unwind and release stress and anxiety. As a father and an Occupational Therapist Assistant in pediatrics, I can't stress enough that our kids need recess. I see it on a daily bases, as patients come to therapy straight from school and need to release all that stored energy before being able to sit for 20-30 minutes at a time and complete a writing or fine motor activity. I can't even imagine sitting for 6-7 hours a day and trying to learn something and retain the information.

This is why our children are overweight to much homework and NO Gym classes?

I am an Orange County resident and we had to fight for this last year (and are still fighting to have it enforced). This is a fight that we should not even have to fight.....it's ABSURD to not give kids recess every day. You have NO studies or proof that it's the right thing to do, but we have plenty of EVIDENCE on our side. Do the right thing.

Let's get rid of the obese kids.

I taught for for 15 years and gave my students recess every day.

let kids be kids for 20 minutes a day & play with each other on the playground or gym if it is raining!

Kids deserve an outside break from school. They do a lot of homework and that also cuts into their freetime. I think all children should have an outdoor recess time. I remember it as a refresher for me

I believe it is crucial for students to have recess. This is a essential brain break for students for them to be able to function at their best during instructional time.

My child does get recess every day, except Wednesday. All schools should have a recess time. This is a much needed "brain break" and energy release for our students.

Being able to take some time off while at school gives our children the chance to interact with their schoolmates.

Definitely, our children need the break for free time of interaction among themselves as well as working off all their energy.
