LET OUR CHILDREN PLAY: DAILY RECESS FOR ALL FLORIDA OSCEOLA COUNTY SCHOOL CHILDREN & THE ENTIRE STATE OF FLORIDA

I seriously think that it is very important for kids to have that time for many reasons but the most important one, mental health.

Exercising and learning go hand and hand. Let the kids return to the playground.

Children should be outside for recess during school, that my be the only time they enjoy being outside. Cell phones, tablets and laptops have taken over our children's play time!

Of course our kids need recess, they are not robot, they need to move strech and relax a little so they can work better.

UPDATE: The School Board of Osceola County were positive in their response to bring daily recess back to our elementary children. Mr. Jay Wheeler, in particular, was so enthusiastic he asked Superintendent Melba Luciano & Asst Superintendent Lissette Brizendine to take a look at the instructional time in our schools and make a recommendation to allow room for daily recess at least 20 mins or more in our elementary schools. In the end, the board agreed with the Superintendent's recommendation to form a committee of parents collaborating with her, Superintendent Melba Luciano, how we can implement daily recess for our elementary school children. After several collaborative meetings, we expect to have a recommendation to present to the School Board. I hope that the outcome of these meetings will be what we all want here: DAILY RECESS, A MINIMUM OF 20 MINS, FOR ALL OUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN, OUTDOORS WEATHER & SPACE PERMITTING, INDOORS IF NOT. Please continue to sign and share this petition and support the cause for daily recess for our elementary school children in Osceola County. The effort to bring it back is not yet over, but it is moving in the positive direction.

Kids need to be active and have a moment to unwind and refresh their young minds. Recess gives them that opportunity.

If we afford adults with 15 min breaks for working several hours straight, how can we expect kids to stay focused on their academic work for 6-7 hours without giving them a recess break? I totally support this. They are kids they should be able to relax their brains.

I absolutely support this cause! My son will be starting kindergarten next year and I can't imagine my son not enjoying recess like I did. Common core and No child left behind are terrible, causing mental health issues in children younger and younger. It is imperative our children play, use their imagination and just laugh..

Also that teachers are not allowed to demand silent recess!!

Kids need to get out their energy.

We need to encourage our youth to get out and be active. With all the classwork and test preparations our children do all day long, then homework and projects all night, they need time to be kids and get exercise! Don't take this away! They need time to get out the jitterbug so they CAN be wonderful children in class, ready to pay attention and give it their all. No recess every day is just a shame...

Kids need recess to burn off some energy and take a break during the school day!
