simply isnt right that a part of our heritage can be destroyed and then left like this - lewisham council please rectify by putting pressure of law onto the developers!

I've waited years to have a decent local within walking distance - how much longer are Purelake going to drag this sorry saga out?

Whilst I agree that something needs to be done to resolve the issue and to remove what has become a blot on the Sydenham landscape, the Sydenham Society only really has itself to blame by campaigning to keep this rather uninspiring and dowdy building. The tiles should have been removed and the building demolished. The scheme that it is part of is ludicrous and even with a re-built pub will still look awful and only serve to create a muggers passageway behind the pub. One option may be to work with Purelake to demolish the building and maybe create a proper public space for Sydenham.

We must not allow Lewisham to become a soft touch for unscrupulous developers. It's been long enough!

Having lived in Sydenham for almost 30 years I want to express sheer exasperation. This building was part of our Heritage holding fond memories for many. Why would they feel they were able to carry this out without permission?

It's so depressing to be greeted by this shell as you first enter Sydenham - what is going on?

As a Sydenham dweller, I've been delighted by the renovation work that's been done on our high street - and horrified that the shell of the Greyhound is allowed to blight this when it could be the heart of our community.

It is truly disgusting that the developers of the pub have been allowed to destroy a piece of Sydenham's history and they have not been punished for the wanton destruction and greed of a fantastic local landmark. It is time our pub is re built to its original specifications.

We want our beautiful pub back and we want it now. The building is "only half demolished": that's great news, get on with it and build the other half, we have had (more than) enough. Your reputation, Purelake, is not so much at stake but in tatters by now: you have a lot to do to convince us you are still to be trusted in any future building projects at all.

Rebuild the Greyhound as a community gastro/pub with a performance space.
