For too long, so-called "children's television" shows have been aired on networks created for children. However, these programs often contain inappropriate and possibly detrimental messages. In a world where children watch 4 hours a day of television on average, I think that it should be important that what our ki's are watching is appropriate for them. Shows show girls as wanting nothing more in life than to get married, boys as players who don't "play by the rules," and idiotic parents. In real life, violence isn't funny, but in television it is. I have seen many an episode in which children younger than ten are already dating! And how many times have you seen a preteen character on a show sneak out or throw a party without being punished because the parents are too stupid to notice? These are only a few messages that are being shown to today's kids, and unless we do something, nothing is going to  change. Please sign my petition, and perhaps we can get it into bigger hands... and begin the production of children's television for children.
