Julie Bindel was worked for abused women her whole life, dealing with the effects of male violence and misogyny. If Mark Rubbo truly is a progressive man, he should show her some respect and apologise.

It only took ONE complaint by ONE trans identified male to CANCEL a lifelong campaigner and activist for lesbians and women?! Shame on you Readings! Apologise to Julie.

Apologise, it's pathetic that you haven't already done so, or do you need another 3 years to mull it over.

Agree with everything that the petition states. We don’t want fascism from a bookstore! Apologise properly to Julie Bindel.,

I live in UK, but am from Melbourne. Whenever I visit, I go to Readings and buy books. It was always my favourite bookshop in Melbourne, but no more. I'm appalled at this action , and lack of apology. Julie, together with many other women in the UK, has been fighting male violence against women globally for years, and has had a massive impact. Many of us have been doing likewise, and in the last 10 years have been fighting the erasure of lesbians and removal of women's rights by transactivist ideology, with some success in UK. So , by succumbing to this pressure (it seems dated in UK that a bookshop in Melbourne is doing this), you have just removed yourself from my list of bookshops to go to when I next visit. This may not matter to you, but we'll spread the word that Readings is misogynist.

Julie Bindel should be celebrated not vilified. Free speech and essential information about what is happening for women is being undermined in the name of the new politically correct narrative.
