The literacy knowledge Reading Recovery teachers receive through their on-going professional development allows them to successfully support classroom teachers in the instruction of struggling readers. Reading Recovery provides necessary literacy support that wouldn't otherwise be available. Please continue to allow our teachers to receive the knowledge so that our struggling readers can be successful.

Reading Recovery is an important program for struggling first graders. One on one support is critical to the development of the most at-risk students. In addition, the ongoing professional development is the most unique and powerful professional development I have ever experienced in my 28 years of teaching.

This program has done wonders for my daughter's ability to read. She was struggling and falling behind until THIS program got her back on track. Her reading recovery teacher was able to teach her the specialized skills specifically aimed at her learning style and give her the confidence she needed to find enjoyment in reading! I've seen a complete turn around in the way she feels about reading. Although my husband and I work with her, the progress she h as made would not have been possible without this wonderful program!!!

Identifying and providing services to students who are at risk in the early school years is an investment in students. In terms of funding, research proves that early intervention is more cost effective than delayed special education services. Research also shows that students who receive early intervention have a decreased drop out rate.

I'm still in high school so this may not matter but at one point in middle school I was in one of these classes and it really helped me develop reading skills I use today. I wasn't the best at reading but it really helped me break out of a stage in my life that I had trouble reading things efficiently. I even had trouble pronouncing simple words! You need to understand that you really need these programs because not everyone can get by without some extra help. And look where I am today I am successful and moving on to study engineering at one of the top engineering schools in the area.

Reading recovery helped my daughter, a struggling reader, to build her phonics skills and confidence as a student. She is know reading on her grade level due to the awesome reading teachers she had that used the reading recovery program.
